A merfolk tribal deck using the new Merfolk put up in Rivals to hopefully make a more valid merfolk tribal deck.

Deck utilizes 1-mana cost merfolk (Kumena's Speaker / Mist-Cloaked Herald) to quickly get a board presence early game, and hopefully Enter the Unknown to be 1 mana ahead of the curve on turn 3 in order to play Deeproot Waters and actually get value out of it.

Deeproot Waters is a core card in order to build up a combo over Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca and Deeproot Elite, Deeproot Elite is mostly meant to put its counters onto either the 1/1 hexproof tokens that are being generated to create a big creature that avoids spot removal or Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca itself.

The goal of the deck is to outpace the opponent in number of creatures and constantly be refilling the hand and cycling the deck as much as possible using the explore mechanic, Silvergill Adept, and Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca. The normal win condition is either going wide with a lot of merfolk into an all out attack or Giant Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca/Mist-Cloaked Herald unblockable swinging for the win.

Biggest obstacles for the deck are White and Black board clears that destroy all creatures, while Blue ones like River's Rebuke can be salvaged and Red ones like Hour of Devastation can be outpaced by increasing the size of the merfolk. Best strategy to beat the White and Black scenarios before sideboard is to play as fast as possible while doing as much damage as possible. So based on scenario this deck is either manifesting as midrange or aggro.
