Swaying to the Symphony of Destruction

Description

Just like the pied piper
Led rats through the streets
We dance like the marionettes
Swaying to the symphony of destruction.

Symphony of Destruction - Megadeth

Deck Description:

Ramping out big creatures early on to create a destructive army of death. How can you stop such beastly creatures so early? Try and find out as you sway to the symphony of destruction :)

Win Conditions:

Your main win condition is Omnifinite (The act of casting every fatty in your deck by dropping Omniscience followed by a free Enter the Infinite )

Other win conditions are just beating the opponent to death with your fatties, mainly your Eldrazi or Lorthos, the Tidemaker

The Deck:

For creatures we have the rampers and the fatties. The ramp creatures are Sylvan Caryatid and Overgrown Battlement . The fatties are Emrakul, the Aeons Torn , Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre , Kozilek, Butcher of Truth , Lorthos, the Tidemaker , Craterhoof Behemoth , Thassa, God of the Sea for control and unblockable, and finally, the ramping fatty Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger .

Our only enchantment is Omniscience cause you know, casting stuff for free is nice.

Sorceries we have Devastation Tide for mass bounce/board control, Rampant Growth for added ramp, and Enter the Infinite for mad draw power.

Instants we got Blue Sun's Zenith for that mass card draw, Harrow for ramp, Cyclonic Rift for early game bounce or late game board sweeper, Twincast to further ramp with Harrow or to copy a spell the opponent plays, and Plasm Capture for some control and ramp.

Anyway, this is my mana ramp deck. +1, comments, thoughts and suggestions are appreciated :)

Rating is at an all time high of 20! My best deck, and I owe a lot of it to the community here. Many people gave many helpful suggestions to further improve my destructive deck. I'm really proud of this one :)

Updates

I finally caved in... — Aug. 14, 2013

New Counter for ramping :D — April 15, 2013

Mana Drain is a filler for the new counterspell to be coming out, Plasm Capture :)

Board sweeper now added — Sept. 26, 2012

Edit: Realized that this deck needed more Eldrazi power in it, and more graveyard shuffling so replaced Primordial Hydra with Kozilek, Butcher of Truth .

With the addition of Devastation Tide , I now have a sweeper for massive creature decks, such as tokens. Also threw in a third Blue Sun's Zenith

Flickering now added — June 5, 2012

So with the addition of Ponder and Ghostly Flicker , I can maintain deck control and also abuse Primeval Titan more as well as save my creatures from kill spells.

Faster Emrakul? — May 11, 2012

Replaced Llanowar Elves with Overgrown Battlement . Took out 2 Islands and 2 Forests for 4 Hinterland Harbor s.

Life Ramping — March 26, 2012

Edit: Okay took out the Lifegift , the Simic Sky Swallower s, and an Explore and added an additional Coiling Oracle , Llanowar Elf, AEther Mutation . Also threw in some draw power, by adding Tidings to the deck. Also changed the land back to 12 each.

Okay took out the Heart Warden s, Urborg Elvess, Time Warp and threw in some Levitates, a couple Lifegift s, and another Cultivate and Explore

Gonna test this out and see how it runs.

Replaced the Condescend with two Twincast and a Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur

automatic +1 for deck name with Megadeth lyrics

Haha, Megadeth is my #1 favorite band. A good number of my decks are named after their songs. Symphony of Destruction was the best one for this beastly deck. Thanks for the +1

Symphony of Destruction is actually my favorite song from Megadeth :)

Harrow is +1 land for 3 mana. Farseek is +1 land for 2. Explore is card draw and possibly +1 land.

Okay? I'm sorry, I don't get where you are going with that

My point is that I think Harrow is a bad card if you don't have a bunch of landfall cards... Which you don't.

I'd run Farseek or Explore instead of Harrow any day. They're cheaper and give exactly the same benefit manawise. Explore even replaces itself.

I beg to differ on the matter. Instant speed ramp that lets my lands come in untapped, set myself up to chain a couple Twincast on a Harrow for massive ramp, and can help fix the mana for a Plasm Capture , as well as thin the deck out faster is not bad at all. It works well in the deck, and while it may cost one more mana, it still has a better benefit. Even if it gets countered, it'd have the same situation as if a Farseek or Explore was countered, so it's not bad in the sense that it kills my ramp more than the others.

Love it! What a fun deck...and looks like it you'll have different ways to play but equally strong each game. +1 of course.

Thanks :) I really enjoy using the deck, and it makes my friends cringe every time I pull it out :D Sometimes I can be so close to death and topdeck the card I need to combo out and win :D I've hit a Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger as early as turn 4. Very proud of this deck and its power.

As you should be :) Ramping into fatties is never a bad idea!

Indeed, and when Kiora finally got spoiled I had to add her. This deck was originally inspired by Kiora's deck in Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012 game. I loved the deck's idea and made it my own, and then it morphed into this after two years time.

Speaking of Kiora's 2012 deck, here's some cards from there.

Simic Sky Swallower

Coiling Oracle

And then some cards that would just mesh really well.

Urban Evolution

Unexpected Results

Tromokratis

Kraken of the Straits

February 27, 2014 6:45 a.m.

@WexAndywn: Coiling Oracle was in the original build, as well as Simic Sky Swallower but both were removed for either better creatures or more control. Urban Evolution was also in here but once again, taken out for better things.

While Unexpected Results is hilarious and casual worthy, I just see no room in the deck for it. The two Krakens are nice, but Lorthos, the Tidemaker does the job a lot better. While it is more vulnerable to removal, it forces the opponent to answer immediately or lose.

I appreciate the help and suggestions though :)

Shipbreaker Kraken seems like it's a little better than Lorthos, the Tidemaker to me personally. Comes out sooner, Less U invested, keeps stuff permatapped.

Only con is that it's only 4 and it's only creatures. That being said are you really concerned with tapping down someone's lands all the time?

February 27, 2014 12:12 p.m.

@Ohthenoises: Lorthos can tap any permanent. I usually end up tapping a combination of creature and lands, depending which is more of a threat to me. The difference between 4 and 8 could mean the game, and while it may be cheaper and cost efficient, I prefer the ability of versatility and shutting down my opponent from playing anything that could hinder me. Plus if I have Vorinclex out I can tap down other things
