When you look at Surrak, you could take him many different directions. Unlike Animar, Riku, Intet, Animar and even Yasova, there doesn't seem to be a real "build around me" feel to him. His stats and abilities are quite good, he has a pseudo-haste, and he gives a definite insistence to your creatures dealing damage and getting in there.

I decided to take the idea of instant speed creatures and spells and turn Surrak into a one hit voltron kill without the need for too many artifacts or enchantment since I already have decks very similar to that. I also wanted to avoid the temptation to cram in every card that allows you to play spells when you normally couldn't like Vedalken Orrery.

The deck can play nearly anything at instant speed, and features plenty of creature pump, that when combined with all trampling, can take a serious chunk out of life totals.

One of the most lethal ways to win is to use Firemind's Foresight at the end of another player's turn to search up something like Berserk, Rush of blood, and Psychotic Fury to make Surrak swing for 24 double strike, trample General damage. It also works with other spells, in case key components are in your graveyard. If, instead, you need to clear the board in a hurry, you can use the Foresight to search for Firestorm, Reverberate and Meditation (or other large draw spell) and do....math is hard...a lot of damage to creatures and players.

Even without pulling the Foresight, this deck is capable of fun plays. One time , I didn't have a counter in hand to stop a Blasphemous Act, but I did have a Summoner's Pact in hand and a Mystic Snake in my library.

The obvious idea is to play your answers and set up your next turn on other player's turns. Because nearly everything can be played at instant speed, you'll usually have mana open for answers. The cougar, ranger and guardian are all there for ramp, and I've never intended to play them as actual creatures. A bonus is that they can search for shock lands and any future lands that feature the type that aren't basic . Speaking of lands, Kessig Wolf Run inspires quite a bit of fear and draws hate from Strip Mine and the like. Icy Blast and Turnabout are almost always blowout cards the turn before I attack for lethal.

I have many "suboptimal" choices in the deck, but I enjoy the challenge of limiting myself to create more unique decks without snap picks from the rare binder. I have 30 regular EdH decks and I don't want to repeat the feel of any of them, but rather keep them unique.
