Very cool. The Royal Assassin, Hidden Strings combo is cool. It does make your plans very clear though, which could be problematic sometimes. I might want to have a bit of instant kill in the deck proper, just in case you need it.

I'm not sure about the Lobotomist. It's a good card, but I don't know if you really need it. I feel like, at 4 mana, you'll likely have better things to do. Since your focus is on attacking, I'd want to get out more attackers rather than a control thing. It is useful, so I'd sideboard it.

Good points. I have 4 terrors and I will likely sideboard them all. I agree about Circu. I want to see if it can make something good out of the spells I have in hand after I've equipped my main damage dealers. I'll swap it with Keiga and the Unholy force and see which one I like better.

Where my Oona's Blackguard at? If you manage some discard with it, you'll control the game quite easily. Oona's Prowler is also a good choice. It's not unblockable, but it has evasion and great damage output that forces discard.

Oh, and Cloak and Dagger makes sure your Hidden Strings and Royal Assassin stay safe (at least from targeted cards).

@manuati That's some good advice! For the time being I'll keep running it as it is, but I'll look for a couple of Blackguards and Cloak and Daggers. Thanks man :-)

Nice deck, I like the interactions with the Royal Assassin. Have you considered Daring Thief as a one of? Though his inspired ability seems a bit cumbersome it actually works really well with Hidden Strings. He can trade himself for any creature that might be giving you trouble, the same goes for any enchantments (such as gods) for your Unholy Strengths; the fact that he is a rogue doesn't hurt either. Also, Monastery Siege might help if you're having some trouble against burn or removal.

Hope this helps.

Sure it helps! I like the Monastery Siege. I don't want to put too much importance on the Hidden Strings combos instead, since they're only there to provide a bit of control and what really makes the match for me are the little unblockables and their equipments. It's a nice idea, though. That's what I like in these unblockable creatures, they really exploit some spells.

Go for the Throat is just better than terror.

Yeah, but I don't have any of them and they're not cheap.

Hands of Binding is a lot better than hidden strings IMO. It controls the game more and you don't have to rely on Royal Assassin to remove their creatures since they stay tapped

Hidden strings has its advantages: it can untap and it targets permanents, so I can untap lands or the assassins. That said, Hands of binding are interesting, I'll try to get some of them. Thanks for the suggestion man!

Love the idea! Maybe Gudul Lurker over Triton Shorestalker for slightly more versatility? And perhaps run more counter?

I like Gudul Lurker! I had never heard of it. As for the counters, I don't have any time to try the deck now, so it's kind of in a beta state. I'm going to review the numbers of counters, killers, equipments and so on as I play it :-)

No Dimir Infiltrator? His transmute works well with your deck too

Ghillie says... #15

I used to have 4 of them in the deck but I didn't use their transmute that often. So I swapped all of them for cheaper creatures.

I have already tried an unblockable-equipment deck (consider using Inquisitor's Flail, one mana less than Fireshrieker, no drawback, stacks). I had to dismantle it because it didn't work.

I had some success with Biomass Mutation and Wings of Velis Vel and some +1+1 counter sources. (Gift of Tusks and Dance of the Skywise are also interesting. - running simic for Forced Adaptation or azorius for Aven Mimeomancer seems to be more effective at pumping creatures.

Thanks, I'm looking for some "Well, since you're letting me through..." instants. I like Wings of Velis Vel.

@luke1 Inquisitor's Flail is interesting but it does have a drawback: I don't get to deal damage twice, which is nice with Oona's Blackguard, Curiosity or Hidden Strings.

Deathcult Rogue is a must need IMO. Also different cards that help with making the creatures you do have that aren't unblockable, unblockable are Rogue's Passage and Aqueous Form. Awesome deck though!! I've always wanted to make an assassin or rogue deck.

August 12, 2016 3:20 a.m.

Ghillie says... #21

Thanks! :-) You suggested some good cards (well, not Rogue's passage imo... Acqueous Form on the opposite is really nice) but I don't think I need them, almost all of my creatures already are unblockable or have some sort of evasive ability.

I was playing around with a deck kind of like this a few weeks ago on a dare and I found that a fun thing to do with it was to add Infect using Blighted Agent and Phyresis.

I played against something like it too, it was amusing (for the other guy). But then I should just focus on delivering poison counters. I think I'm better off starting with hammering on the good ole life and keeping doing that.

August 23, 2016 9:48 a.m.

you need to add Tricks of the Trade. gives the creature a nice pump and makes them auto-unblockable.
