The is basically a low curve midrange deck loaded with high-value creatures and spells and sweet interactions.
T1: Tapped Shock Land or Avacyn's Pilgrim
T2: Farseek , Boros Reckoner , or Loxodon Smiter
T3: Any Creature
T4+: Play whatever to stay ahead without committing too much to the board. Usually wins T4-T8
Any suggestions or comments would be great.
Round 1: Wolf Run Bant (2-0) Played well and did damage
Round 2: U/B Mill (2-0) Raced his mill and won
Round 3: Naya Blitz (2-0) My deck went over the top of his deck
Top 8: Gruul Aggro (2-0) Played bigger creatures
Semifinals: Naya Blitz (1-2) Played too slow and got smashed
Round 1 - Bye
Round 2 - Aristocrats (2-0) Played weak cards and lost.
Round 3 - Wolf Run Bant (0-2) Did not play magic against my opponent.
2nd place - Last Promo Farseek needed to complete playset.
Before the match, I also made some changes to my deck which proved to be pretty sweet. +2 Aurelia, the Warleader for -1x Boros Charm and -1x Sigarda, Host of Herons and +1x Garruk, Primal Hunter for -1x Domri Rade .
Round 1: Boros Aggro (2-1)
Round 2: B/W Zombies (2-1)
Round 3: U/B Control (2-1)
Round 4: Wolf Run Bant (2-1)
Finals: U/B Control (0-2)
In the final match, I had to mulligan both games and got mana flooded the first match. The second match, he got super lucky on the last turn and pulled the only card that would allow him to win. Got second place and won a promo Searing Spear .
Made some changes afterwards that would have been great during my matches tonight. I moved these cards to sideboard: -2x Selesnya Charm , -1x Sigarda, Host of Herons ; these cards to mainboard: +3x Searing Spear ; and removed these from the deck: -1x Oblivion Ring , -1x Zealous Conscripts , -1x Bonfire of the Damned .
Round 1: Jund Midrange (2-0)
Round 2: Wolf Run Bant (0-2)
Round 3: Junk Enchantment (2-0)
Round 4: Naya Blitz (2-1)
Won 1st place and got my promo Farseek
Round 1: B/W Extort 2-0
Round 2: Wolf Run Bant 2-0
Round 3: RBw Aggro 1-2
Round 4: BR Control 2-0
Can't believe I lost one match and got 5th place, doesn't make sense. My opponents must have did horrible. One spot from getting a promo Farseek which I really wanted.
Tried the deck for the first time yesterday at Game Day.
Round 1: Mono-Black Control 0-2
Round 2: Esper Control 2-0
Round 3: Boros Aggro 2-0
Round 4: Jund Aggro 2-1
Semifinals: Mono-Black Control 1-2 (Same as Round 1)
I think Tajic, Blade of the Legion is too slow right now and Huntmaster of the Fells Flip fits that slot better but i'll test out Voice of Resurgence and see if he's right for the deck. I was also testing Ruric Thar, the Unbowed but i feel ike he comes out too late to make a big enough impact. Thanks for the suggestion.
I have had fun with Spark Trooper in Double Helix, although the Silverblade Paladin s help with that. They are great lifegain to get you that extra turn against a smashy deck when you have four mana, and they do nice damage. They love Boros Charm and Aurelia, the Warleader , and all three cards together mean a 48-point lifeswing, aka game over.
You could try them out over Huntmaster or Resto Angels, though I acknowledge the incredible usefulness of both. Also, I put in a Ruric Thar, the Unbowed as a heavy hitter mid-to-late game, and death to many decks that just happen to like noncreature spells!
I was just wondering why you only ran 1 Thragtusk? Most decks, including myself have those as a must 4.
Also, this is my new Naya Deck, just put it together Friday and made top 8 the last 2 nights. Tell me what you think and any pointers. http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/naya-mid-range-26-05-13-1/
I just recently put most of the Thragtusk in the side. I used to run 3 in the main but I was looking at a deck very similar to mine that made top 8 in one of the starcity opens which only used one Thragtusk in the main. After talking with my friend, we realized he's actually one of the worst 5 drops in the deck compared to Thundermaw Hellkite and i only really need him against the aggro matchups so i mainboarded some Loxodon Smiter to help deal with the early aggro since i side them in 60% of the time.
