After Grand Prix Taipei —June 28, 2016

After GP, I've realised that in a competitive game, speed is far more important than other considerations. I had always thought that Narset is prone to get countered, therefore I made some effort to adjust to a decklist which prevents Narset being countered. The truth is that in tournaments, there really aren't that many counterspells being used. Most of the players are playing very fast combo deck and they don't really use that many counterspells.

I've adjust the decklist and leave only a few very good anti-counterspell elements and added back Rite of Flame, Desperate Ritual, and Pyretic Ritual.

This decklist is going to be more powerful in a competitive meta and unfortunately may be less consistent in a casual playgroup. Maybe it's a good idea not to play this non-interactive OP deck with your friends....? After all EDH is all about the fun!!!

By the way, this deck is finally foiled!!

...Okay, now I'm a seriously casual commander player... and this is the first time I've ever seen a deck like this. Please God, may I never be on the receiving end. Holy expletive expletive, I am dumbstruck. +1. For all that might mean.

nyctophasm, I have two answers for you:

-A: There are plenty of expeditions, but that isn't the biggest cause of the price... Rise? Cliff? Eldrazi-Titan-sized slope? Anyway, moving on.

-B: Here's the big one. All the cards are foil. I don't know why the author chose to do this, but if you make the cards normal rather than foil, it lowers the price tag substantially.

Hopefully that helps. This seems like a very good deck to play with.

Those expeditions NORMALLY wouldn't do much, but they are foil. Normally Arid Mesa or Bloodstained Mire cost like $12 USD, right? When foil, they cost literally 10 times that. That means a combination of points A and B are largely responsible, but they individually still stand.

I foiled them because I like this deck so much and couldn't help but foiling them....

I see. Just saying tho, that if anyone wants to buy this deck they will have to take away the foil before ordering.

The author is the richest guy in my playgroup, thats why this deck is foiled.

How has this been doing in the competitive scene lately? I haven't seen a Narset deck in a while since Shu Yun became the new Jeskai play thing. I always felt Narset took too long to get started but that's just me.

I have never seen any shu yun deck in my playgroup so I dont know how fast that is. I suppose that commander wins by commander damage? So with that deck you would have to kill your opponents one by one maybe? My deck usually wins before turn five killing all the opponents at once.

Shu Yun is an infinite storm engine that kills the table in about turns. I didn't realize you were basing its competitiveness off of your local group, my bad dude.

Nice to see a fellow user of Long-Term Plans. That card doesn't get enough love.

Very nice deck.

Whoever said Arid Mesa was $10 USD, I'll buy all your copies.
