Disrupt your opponent's hand and play Thief of Sanity or Hostage Taker who are hopefully safe because of your discard. You also have Lazav and Find to replay your cheap value creatures. The discard and Thief of Sanitys are a powerful engine to beat control decks, while hostage taker, Chupacabra and Moment of Craving can take you to the mid game where your card advantage engines can hopefully take off. The splash is for powerful answers to almost any threat.
