Grand Prix Seattle —April 8, 2018
I forgot to write up a update on my last FNM.
3/30/2018 FMN - only 8 players

4-7-18 Grand Prix Seattle
Round 1 vs BW Eldrazi Taxes 2-1 Win
Game 1 got the e-capsule/ruins loop and beat him down slowly. Game 2 he got a early Rest In Peace that shut down 2 snaps, 1 witness, and 1 Pulse of Murasa in my hand and I lost. Game 3 I got turn 3 lily last hope on a empty board and my opponent slammed Rest In Peace his next turn. I had a abrupt decay to take it out and was able to protect lily and ultimate her for a zombie horde victory.
Round 2 vs Infect 2-1 Win
I lost the die roll and I tapped out on my turn two and died on his turn 3 Game 1. Game 2 and 3 I sided in all my removal and killed everything and won both. Damnation was amazing killing 2 spellskites and a Infect creature.
Round 3 vs Affinity 2-1 Win
Lost the die roll again and kept a hand of double Rune Snag and no removal hoping it wasn't an aggro deck.... and then died turn 3 or 4 because of the keep. Again like the Infect game, games two and three I side in Damnation an and 4 more removal spells and also a Ghost Quarters and crucible of worlds for the man lands. I got crucible going in both games thanks to gifts and I damnationed in each for 2 straight wins!
Results - 3-0 400 tix!
I was debating on running the home brew at this event because it was double prizing but I had faith and went for it. I was pretty stoked. Damnation was MVP and glad I had two in the side.
Doran's Bridge 2-0 Win
This was a super interesting brew. All 0 power creatures with huge butts for doran. Then he ran 3 ensnaring bridges so it makes it a one sided bridge because all his creatures can attack because doran lets them do damage even though they have 0 attack. My opponent was hoping a turn 1 birds of paradise would stick but I was able to kill it and he got stuck on lands and lost. Game 2 was somewhat similar. He got some disruption going with ensnaring bridge, Stoney silence, and pithing needle naming hangarback walker that I had on field. But I was able to kill his threats and cast a gifts that allowed me to kill every piece of disruption over a couple turns and then locked him out of the game.
Druid Elves 2-1 Win
I lost the die roll again vs a aggro deck and died super fast Game 1. Game 2 I sided in my MVP damnations and was able to fight through a couple cocos and 2 scavenging oozes and locked up the board with a lily last hope, and flipped Jace. Game 3 was one of my favorite games I've ever played with the deck. He was on the play and was on a fast start like elves always do. I was running low on life and was running out of removal. I took a turn off to play a ashiok knowing that she is going to have to make some chump blockers if I was going to have time to find a Damnation. I didn't hit any creatures on the plus 2 and past turn. He has 4 creatures 3 1/1 and a 2/2, he ignores ashiok and attacks me putting me to 4. I plus ashiok hitting 2 elves. I cryptic tap his team and draw a baby Jace off it. He then plays a selfless spirit, which makes me think I've lost because my out of Damnation is no longer and out. I draw a removal spell on my turn. I kill the spirit with it, play Jace and minus ashiok to creature a 2/2 blocker. If he top decks a lord I'm dead. He fortunately doesn't and attacks. I block a 1/1 with Jace, trade word the 2/2s and then take 2 from the last 2 1/1s which makes me go to 2 life. My turn comes and I finally fine Damnation! I flip Jace and then cast Damnation and minus ashiok to put another elf. After that I was able to run away with the game! It was a crazy game.
Round 3 vs my friends Jund
Got matched up with a friend that I rode up with and we intentionally drew to go get some food.
Results: 2-0-1
150 tix! Lol it was a fun day with sultai. I really liked the changes. I cut Finks and put in a second Pulse of Murasa in the main. I think I will cut the filigree familiar next time I play and maybe Main 2 Collective brutality and put the second Pulse in the side. And then I could add another card in the side for Tron possibly.
