Saturday Night Modern 20+ players Deck Changes —Jan. 28, 2018

I changed up the main deck maining 2 Kitchen Finks and a Damnation to help with aggro decks. I really liked the change a lot. But I also made another change that drastically changed the results of my matches tonight, which was taking Tectonic Edge out of the 76. I switch to 2 Ghost Quarters main board and thought that would be fine. But I play two mini colored tron decks....which each ran 5+ basics. So they were not greatly effect by GQs. Cast a lot of big stuff naturally and I lost 0-2 to each.

Round 1 Vs RW Soul Sisters 2-0 Win

Already played this match up a couple weeks ago and it's actually a very easy match up. His life gain does not matter against my deck and his aggressive plan is not fast enough to matter. The Kitchen Finks were very nice this match up. Easy 2-0.

Round 2 Vs Mono Green Tron 0-2 Loss

Traversed for Ghost Quarters game 1 and had life from the Loam also. But like I already mentioned, mono green allows many basics so he casted his stuff naturally both games and I lost.

Round 3 Vs UR Prowess 2-0 Win

Without the two Finks and Damnation I would have probably lost game one. But I traversed for both Finks. Game two he didn't draw enough threats and I won with Askiok.

Round 4 Vs Infect 1-2 Loss

Not going to lie, I shouldn't have lost this match. I really punted both game 2 and 3. So much removal and counters that I should never lose this match I feel. Just horrible misplays that I don't really want to explain... lol

Round 5 Vs Mono Blue Tron 0-2 Loss

Game one I again got Loam and Ghost Quarters but it didn't matter because he ran so man basics, naturally just lost. Game 2 I kept a horrible hand of 6 out of frustration and lost horribly. We ended playing a sided game for fun after I conceded quickly and I won.

Results: 2-3

It's the worst record I've had with the deck so far but I still learned a lot tonight. The biggest thing I learned obviously is I need to have a 1-1 split of Ghost Quarter and Tectonic Edge. I think I could have competed with the Tron players if so. Also...to not misplay and throw games away verse Infect haha still loving the deck and it's a blast to play even when losing which is a plus!
