Subtle Machinations (Atris EDH)

Commander / EDH UB (Dimir)

the__odysseus

You are a high lord of Fiora, who sits in the legislative seats of the High City. Your vote, along with the others of the council, is law.
Atris is your trusted informant and advisor. He can see into the future, but can rarely give you specific details. He is not always at hand, but his presence is always felt.
With Atris's help, you will slowly gain control of the high council, ingeniously forcing your opponents to obey your wishes, whether they know it or not. You will make them offers they cannot refuse, threaten, and even occasionally resort to violence.
Atris does charge a fee for his services to you, but you need not pay him much. His services are invaluable yet highly affordable.
You will be gifted more estates, and you will increase your empire. Some of these lands even have hidden values. Your reign is inevitable.
You will purchase powerful artifacts, increasing your resources beyond just your land.
You possess a few large beasts, that you can either use to protect your assets or to... undermine your opponents. Atris suggests they may become useful soon.
Atris forsees large beings in your future. They will be used to great effect in securing your control.
Your opponents are getting too powerful, Atris asserts. It might be time to take some of their resources and put it to better use. Go behind the scenes or just steal blatantly. It will serve to infuriate your opponents, yet render them useless.
Turn your opponents against each other. They will be so distracted by their petty squabbles and their silly titles they will not detect your rise to power until it is too late, reveals Atris.
Your opponents can also be your allies in times of need. Strike deals with them, advises Atris, whether you promise them knowledge or arcane magics.
Atris can occasionally tell you important details. His information gives you many paths and options, whether they end up being Fact or Fiction. His sight can at some times be faulty, after all.
Atris shows you your opponent's goals and desires. This allows you to interfere with your opponent's schemes, whether disrupting their carefully designed attacks with your subtle Propaganda or tampering with their ploys with Misdirection.
Perhaps your least favorite method to be used in your ploy for ultimate power, violence is unfortunately occasionally necessary. Atris also disapproves, but understands that lethal force is the only way. He does, however, caution restraint as you don't wish to draw too much attention to yourself and your methods of killing are limited.
Atris anticipates that total destruction of the whole council's resources may become important. Best to not over-invest and leave yourself like a sitting duck when the destruction does come.
If you have somehow not risen to the top, not to worry. You will be here, biding your time, and waiting for the right moment to strike.
