Jalira

Jalira, Master Polymorphist is one of THOSE commanders. The ones you see and go, "That could be interesting to build", and then forget all about. Well, I didn't forget about her.

Mass Polymorph

The guards transformed into tiny blue frogs, their empty clothes falling around them. Yisan shot Jalira a disapproving look.
"The flies were bothering me," Jalira replied, smiling.

When I saw Jalira for the first time, I thought she was so quirky and weird, and I couldn't resist building her. She allows me to play mono-blue in a charming and strange way so people wouldn't notice the control mixed in there and hate me for it. When I pull Jalira out, people know its going to be a good time. The deck has become one of my favorites to play, it always is fun to see what crazy stunts you can pull off.

Stormtide

"I have a plan," Jalira whispered, trying to hide her smile as she studied the creatures.
"I don't like it," Yisan replied.
Blue smoke began to flow from Jalira's fingertips.

Playing Jalira generally comes down to one important skill: laying low. Jalira is one of those "come out of nowhere" commanders, but the strategy can be very fragile. Drawing as little attention as possible is always a good idea, then strike the enemies when they have battered each other down.

When playing the actual deck, drop small creatures like Palace Familiar and Jeskai Sage to serve as fodder for Jalira, then use Jalira's ability to morph them into whatever comes. There is nothing more satisfying than turning that Salvage Drone into a Platinum Emperion or It That Betrays . Use counterspells and other measures to keep heat off you while you set up these massive threats.

I do know that this deck is not optimized, and you have the potential to hit fodder creatures with her ability. As it stands, this is an issue I am slowly acquiring cards to counteract, but as I only play casual commander, this roulette style almost adds to the flavor and strategy of the deck, as hitting fodder creatures is likely to rouse a few chuckles, head shakes, and make you look like less of a threat.

It That Betrays

"They sound terrifying!" she said, putting her hands over his, sliding his rings off his fingers. "I believe I've heard of them..."

My goal for this deck is to replace all the small fodder creatures with fodder generators, such as Wirefly Hive , or Sarpadian Empires, Vol. VII .

I have experimented with many different variations of Jalira, including a Myr tribal, an Artifacts deck, and a 1-shot Blightsteel Colossus combo deck. All in all, I feel an optimized version of the current strategy would be the most satisfying to play.

My current list of cards to acquire is listed below, so take a look before you suggest them to me!

If you liked the deck, make sure to give a +1! All suggestions are appreciated!

"Jalira wanted to say something else, but pride forced her to leave without a word. She was not going to waste her time on foolishness."
