  • Step 1: set it on fire
  • Step 2: Build a new deck that isn't this and is more original.

Non-sarcastiscally: I'm not a fan of solved decks or really obvious archetypes that are popular or often played. I tend to react negatively to people pulling them out at all when we play. You may have genuinely come up with all of this deck on your own, after all I know you to be a creative deck builder and have a lot of respect for you, but this deck is 99% the same as every other optimized Krenko deck, and 100% BS broken as balls. It's perfect and also exactly the wrong thing to do in EDH. It's linear and predictable; it has no plan B or subtlety and it paints a huge target on you.

If you were just asking if I thought it's good then yes, it is ridiculously good.

All of that being said, your instants make me so erect I have to call the Viagra hotline. That's the sexiest package I've ever seen and it could probably get a room full of women pregnant just by looking at it. Probably also should add Battle Hymn for the random haste instant.

Build Zada, Hedron Grinder instead. Now that's an interesting and cool red deck that nobody builds because Magic players are boring basic bitches.

Ha ha ha ha. I appreciate the hate, brother.

This thing wins no more than 50% of its games in the one-on-one showdowns at my house, so it has never felt supremely overpowered.

That said, I haven't played it since adding Crypt and Blood Moon this week...

The homie martonsmash is looking for a mono-red idea, though. Mike, get theeself a Hedron Grinder!

April 21, 2017 8:27 p.m.

Lol no worries. By all means if you're intending it for 1v1 then it's def appropriate. I personally am not a fan of 1v1 so I'm not as experienced with the meta. But yeah Zara is probably the best monored general imo. Just imagine the insane card draw from something like Expedite when you have a decent gobo army.

Yes, my mind went right to that card as well once I read Zada's rules text. Would definitely be super fun.

If you're slipping combat damage through on a regular basis, might I suggest Tears of Rage?

Hey Myr_Mythic, thanks for commenting. I've never seen that card before; it's a spicy one indeed! Because all of my creatures share a creature type, however, Shared Animosity gives me the same effect without forcing the sac at EOT. It's repeatable too!

That's a fair reason.

Some pretty spicy shit getting dropped on us in C17. Anyone got any recommendations for Kranking things up a notch?

August 14, 2017 1:04 p.m.

Lol Kranking. Disrupt Decorum , kindred charge , and Heirloom Blade all seem sweet for this deck.

Hmmm... Not sure if I should take your advice, EternalBrewmaster, your last suggestion on this deck involved a trashcan fire...

Kindred Charge is an interesting one, and indeed the first card that jumped out at me during the spoilers. My concern is that it turns out to be a little bit of a win-more situation at best, and an over-costed dead card at worst. I've only got ONE six mana spell in this deck, and it's also a two mana spell, ha ha. If I can snag a cheap copy, I will certainly give it a try.

Heirloom Blade is definitely spicy, and a nice way of doubling down on an effect I hope to add with Path of Ancestry (yes, even in a mono-colored deck). Draw is unsurprisingly a major weakness in this deck, so I'm more than happy to take my chances on the 1/4 chance of a gobbo being on deck.

Garbage Fire is a real card buddy, and I would play it in every deck if I could. I agree that the deck is probably as good as it needs to be without any of the new tech, except for Heirloom Blade which would just be really sweet, especially with all your Goblin sac outlets.

I'm thinking about going up to 38 lands. I hate mulliganing so much lol. I might fuck myself later in the game with land draws thought... Maybe I could try more colorless ramp? I've noticed I need at least three lands in my opening to not completely fuck myself over in a game.

I'm rebuilding Krenko now, with even more combos. Mono red is soooo spicy .

Your deck is awesome. Maybe I'll get around to blinging mine out.

Thanks Brycej304! A agree about the need for 3 lands in an opening hand, but accelerants are really what get this deck going in a hurry and can certainly alter this calculus a bit. Mana Crypt or Lotus Petal are ideal (the combination of the two gives us the coveted turn-1 Krenko), but even Sol Ring, Fire Diamond or Ruby Medallion can help get Krenko out and hasty by turn 3. I've even thinking about adding Simian Spirit Guide into the mix if I can find a pimpin' version of it.

How's it going? I've been tweaking my Krenko deck! Have you seen Coldsteel Heart? It's like another Fire Diamond, which I always love seeing. I'm also going to mess with Myriad Landscape. Ramp is so good in this deck. I need a Mana Crypt.

Brycej304 says... #20

Haha, it also plays into your Skred strategy!

VietMoneys says... #21

Hey Brycej304. So true about Coldsteel Heart. I run it in my mono black deck, so I can't believe I didn't think of it here. I just picked one up for Krenko, although unfortunately I think it is the aforementioned Skred that's going to come out for it :/

I love what you're doing here, but I feel like there's more you could do. You left a link to this deck in a comment on my deck. This deck of yours is pretty much a mountain of money but I feel although you could save so much effort by setting your sights a little bit lower. If I were you I'd switch Thornbite Staff out for Sword Of The Paruns because thornbite staff works when a creature goes into a graveyard, where sword of paruns does the same for just a bit of mana, letting you go infinite if you have either Skirk Prospector (sac a few tokens for mana to untap krenko) or mana echoes, which will give you enough mana to untap krenko using sword of the paruns. In my opinion this is more useful than thornbite staff in terms of untapping potential, and seems more frequently applicable.

February 19, 2018 8:58 p.m.

VietMoneys he said switch Thornbite for the pile of garbage that is sword of the paruns. /dying

Alright, EternalBrewmaster, take it easy on the homie! Thanks for checking out the deck, oren_EDH. You're missing one small thing in the scenario you describe above, however. Indeed, this deck is always trying to sac a few tokens, and every time you do so, Thornbite Staff untaps Krenko, allowing another activation. This is true not only if you're saccing to a Mana source like the altars or the mighty mighty Skirk Prospector, but also to other outlets like Goblin Bombardment, Goblin Sledder, etc. Because the Staff can also ping players, Krenko, the Staff, and a sac outlet not only create infinite goblins (and sometimes Mana), but in fact win the game outright with direct damage. Anyhow, for the "pay to untapp Krenko" route, I actually like Umbral Mantle better for it's O equip cost. Hope this all makes sense!

February 20, 2018 10:07 a.m.

Fair enough, it came off harsh. His comment triggered me like all the comments from people on here coming onto my pages and telling me how to better design my extremely intentionally-designed decks. But good response. I mostly dont get how people think Paruns is a good card at all in a world with umbral mantle and especially Thornbite.
