A zombie based deck, for all your standard match needs. Or, some of your needs... Okay only zombie related needs. Anywho, if you like the deck, give it a plus 1 up-vote and remember, all suggestions are welcome. Although this isn't budget, I try to keep from high cost cards such as planeswalkers.

Okay! Amenhotep is practically out, thank you Mythic spoiler, in the form of spoiled cards. As such, I was able to add some cards from it to here (Shimmering Grotto represents Painted Bluffs for now). Some of the buff cards there have re-invigorated my will to make this use mostly tokens, so that's what it's going to do from now on. Make a lot of tokens and buff them. Still questioning adding white, but I might... don't know if I should keep Westvale Abbey  Flip due to this, as I'll need three land colors.

I really like this deck. Would you mind if I used some aspects of it in my zombie deck? Also, I found that Voldaren Pariah works great, even if it isn't a zombie.

Pariah is [email protected]@ss but watch your timing when you kick it off. I played against one in a commander game the other day and my opponent waited till after I untapped and activated it on my turn trying to maximize the creatures of mine he could hit... and I bounced pariah back to his hand in response to activating it so he lost his sacrificed creatures and did not get to flip it.

Now that I look at it, neither do I, except maybe as a sideboard for against discard decks. Thanks for pointing that out.

A fun card to help get more cards in your hand since you either play your spells out or discard them would be Ghirapur Orrery. It is a double edge sword but could be valuable to you.

A card I am surprised you are not running since it seems like such a good card for b/u zombie is Compelling Deterrence. This bounce card can help you at most points in game as you can remove threats from board like creatures or even planeswalkers. With the discard tag on it means that you can remove the threat outright if they have no cards in hand. Note: not great vs madness decks or re-animators and may want to side out vs these arch types.

Personally not a fan of Noosegraf Mob, but see its uses when against a control deck. Would suggest Prized Amalgam since you have soo many cards that can be replayed from your grave and discard mechanics make this a good fit.

Thank you for the suggestions. I've played games with noosegraf where I get near loss but in the end overwhelm them with tokens.

Cryptbreaker deserves a spot (maybe over Wailing Ghoul), the card draw, small lifegain, and turning excess lands into tokens is great against a variety of decks.

If you find you don't have a hand most of the time I would try running Geralf's Masterpiece over Advanced Stitchwing for the 5 CMC spot

Liliana's Elite if your doing a good job filling your graveyard

and if budgets not a concern then you need Relentless Dead

and as others have said with all the graveyard recurrsion Prized Amalgam

To abuse all the discard you are doing try out Gisa's Bidding / From Under the Floorboards for their madness options. could be good....

Cards you can remove to make more consistent: Spontaneous Mutation - Opt for Murder instead

Mortuary Mire < Cemetery Recruitment < Rise from the Grave don't need 8 copies of this type effect, Glisa and Relentless do this just as good, if you want card draw up Take Inventory to 4x or add cryptbreaker

Rise from the Tides - Unless you are getting 5 zombies its not worth it. The madness suggestions above may be better or improve the effect of Rise. Also lower Noosegraf Mob to a 0, 1x, or Sideboard.

Sorry for all the comments I am just passionate about Zombies!!! Good luck with your deck.

Who/what would be switched out for the Prized Amalgam though?

October 17, 2016 11 p.m.

razelfark says... #12

Personally I would pull Rise from the Tides or Cryptolith Fragment  Flip. While both are interesting cards, rise is a very slow card and the fragment is awkwardly paced on utility as well.

I'm thinking, should I swap in Voldaren Pariah  Flip and put 2 of Noosegraf Mob in the sideboard for control decks?

That as well as, where would I put in Relentless Dead?

I would take out all the artifacts for more hand disruption early game(transgress the mind, collective brutality, harsh scrutiny) those on opening hand allow you to set up easier. And starts giving you early card advantage. Zombies take some setting up I know I run a zombie deck. I would advise to take out the mob for a second gissa and Geralf. The demon seems like a cool idea to sack your own zombies and revive their good stuff from the graveyard(that you discarded with hand disruption). Also grasp of darkness and murder is the best removal right now imo so run more. It gives your demon more energy late game or takes out early aggro stuff so a copy more of each at least in sideboard is not a bad idea

Hey. I have a very similar deck I've been workshopping. Grave Intentions (zombies)

I played some standard with the initial build, and lost pretty bad. My conclusion was to take out everything slowing it down and put in more fast aggro cards. Rise from the Tides is a good example. It seemed awesome, but if you need that many zombies by turn 6, your probably losing already... Take Inventory also, I had four of them, but I found that when I was playing one to draw cards... I would have rather have been using that mana agressively instead.. Nagging Thoughts seems better, since you can use it with madness when your activating cryptbreaker, so playing it isn't slowing you down too much.

Feel free to have a look. I would also appreciate comments or suggestions, I haven't tested out the new build yet, pretty sure it would still get destroyed by control decks. meh. Zombies are fun... Good luck with this deck.

Very nice.

I'm loving all the different takes on standard Zombies. I love how you incorporated Madness and discard-benefits in here. Curious as to what you think of my build though. Something they do have in common "make a lot of tokens and buff them."

I want to love Prized Amalgam, I really do. I have used it before however, and in 8/10 cases, it only slows down the deck, as well as takes some focus away from the tokens.

May 12, 2017 9:28 a.m.

Shadow29870 says... #26

I can see why you would saybthat, however Nagging Thoughts has two things that doesn't have. I can get something in the grave (keep mind, I want to since this is zombies and I have Corrupted Grafstone), as well as it has madness, and I have a fair but of discard.

May 12, 2017 9:38 a.m.

razelfark says... #27

I personally am not a big fan of Nagging Thoughts cost to effect. I understand the useful function of it having madness and that you can ditch something to grave. I might consider Contingency Plan as an alternative. wWhile it doesn't put a card in hand, it will allow you to set up your next couple draws and even populate the grave more, getting cards like the Haunted Dead and Geralf's Masterpiece to grave faster.

I would also suggest that you might want to run Dread Wanderer (sorry link not working) as your deck idea seems to make you hand-less often enough thanks to all the discard. This also gives your deck a 1 drop for some early defense since you run so many high costs.

Not to sure how well Rise from the Grave or Time to Reflect work out for you. Worried that rise might take to long to use but like the function of stealing opponents creatures you kill so it might work out just fine. As for reflect it seems very situational and might just be better off being a Fatal Push, Immolating Glare, or Cast Out.

Hope these comments help.

Have you tried liliana, death's majesty? Her ultimate is an asymmetrical board wipe for non-zombie decks and her -3 makes anything brought back from the grave a zombie in addition to whatever other creature types. Definite upvote from me! Can you help me with the sideboard of my deck Journey to the Afterlife? It has a similar theme to yours.

May 13, 2017 4:41 p.m.

Shadow29870 says... #29

Hmm. For razelfalk, I'll need to think about Contingency Plan, I'll play it a bit before I put it here. As for Time to Reflect... I may drop it. The white will probably most likely hurt more than help, and I may just be able to find something better. ( Fatal Push is a bit expensive to have three of in terms of $$$) Also, Rise from the Grave so far has helped me a lot. And finally, Dread Wanderer, I'll think of as well. May replace my whit cards with it.

For devilslayer, Lilliana death's majesty is a bit pricey in $$$ regards, so that's the only reason for me saying no. And sure, I'll check your deck. Though I'm not the best with sideboards.

Yup! IT's there to fill in Dread Wanderer until it gets added to the card list. If you read the cards and where they are, you'll notice that it's tagged as THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE DREAD WANDERER
