This is my most recent version of this deck Rhys the Swarmlord (Squirrels).

I like it. +1

A buddy of mine runs a Rhys deck, and yours is certainly different. First thoughts on some cards that could work:

card:Nomads' Assembly

Spidersilk Armor

Eldrazi Monument

Hedron-Field Purists

Oracle of Nectars

Words of Worship + Well of Lost Dreams

Rune-Tail, Kitsune Ascendant

Dolmen Gate

Beacon of Immortality

True Conviction

card:Mind's Eye

Thousand-Year Elixir

Rings of Brighthearth

Ajani Goldmane - because copying THAT token is insane

Thanks for the suggestions!

The reason that I don't have cards like Nomads' Assembly in the deck is largely because I've been trying to somewhat keep my 'forest critter' theme. It is a pretty solid possibility though.

I will definitely be finding a place for Spidersilk Armor (probably just cutting Parapet)! Flyers have been one of the weakness of this deck until I get Glare of Subdual out.

I'm not completely dedicated to life gain, so I'm not sure how I feel about those cards, but I recently found a few more that are similar to Essence Warden, which is a more passive life gain that fits the theme. (Although they did give me some ideas for my dedicated life gain deck: Peace Treaty (EDH).)

True Conviction and Eldrazi Monument are kind of sick with this kind of deck. I'm not 100% sure how I feel about that :) Honestly, I avoid using some of the abilities like double strike and lifelink just because I don't really care for them (they make me feel old, back in my day we had things like Flanking).

Thanks for the tips! I'll be testing the deck out on Monday and I'll see how my recent modifications go, and try out some of your suggestions!

I love me some ramp and tokens!

Llanowar Mentor would be great and Doubling Season and Parallel Lives will let you ramp pokens while you're ramping tokens when you ramp tokens!

Good show! and a +1 from me as well.

Holy shit, I just thought about doing this the other day. I'll probably drag my ass putting it together, but seeing this was fucking awesome.

I like sticking with the squirrel theme, so I'd recommend Squirrel Mob , Swarmyard , Squirrel Nest and Squirrel Wrangler partnered with Crucible of Worlds

I rather like land fetching such as Knight of the Reliquary Land Tax and others, but that's up to you.

You can also try Coat of Arms and the like, but you've got some awesome overrun effects.

+1 like a motherfucker.

I totally forgot about a couple of those squirrel cards, I'll have to see if I can find them! :)

I've found that Coat of Arms has the potential to be great, but it can also hurt a lot if your opponent is playing something more tribal than you! I have a bunch of squirrels, but there are other tokens as well, and I've gotten screwed against zombie and goblin decks before.

Definitely need the Llanowar Mentor and Doubling Season when I can get my hands on them.

Triumph of the Hordes Is great finisher when you have a field of tokens.

I think you should run Ajani, Caller of the Pride and Honor of the Pure , and maybe, if you aren't the person that minds losing some life, Mutagenic Growth .

Surprised you're not running Earthcraft . Slap it onto a land, and bam. Infinite squirrels.

I've never been a huge fan of infinite combos, but that could be useful in non-infinite ways as well. I wasn't aware of it! Thanks!

I'm intentionally keeping away from the big tribal tokens like elves, saprolings, and soldiers, to keep with my forest critter theme, as noted in the description. Otherwise Mycoloth would be on my list. I do use him in my saproling deck: Fungal Infection (EDH).

Now with more squirrels! I got myself a Nut Collector and Squirrel Wrangler .

Cathars' Crusade is a must in any token deck

I will be fair and say that I have avoided putting it in purely because of the amount of work that will go into keeping track of all those +1/+1 counters on different tokens. I agree that it would be an effective card in the deck.

I'll make recommendations based on my last squirrel deck. Maybe you can use some of the tools in my shed:

My advice: Above all, have fun with this deck. Mine devolved into a more competitive deck and it lost it's flavor and fun.

+1 for a deck that maintains the spirit of what EDH was originally created for!

Cheers!

I don't know how I overlooked Krosan Beast! I know I'm missing Squirrel Mob also, but I often end up with non-squirrels as my primary tokens, so it didn't seem worth including for anything other than flavor.

I've had Emmara Tandris and Privileged Position in my deck before, but I pulled them out for other cards. Fracturing Gust might be good, but I am pretty dependent on my enchantments.

Earthcraft keeps coming up, I really should invest in one at some point. It seems to be a part of the squirrel legacy in magic.

I actually have a Freyalise, Llanowar's Fury deck which is much more competitive and generally elf-ish.

Thanks for your suggestions!

Krosan Beast = world's biggest squirrel

Vigor loves 1/1 counters

Ring of Kalonia is cheap, buffs even your weakest creature and trample is always nice

The new green plainswalker from the latest commander sets (forgot the bname sorry) creates 1/1 elves that tap for mana, destroys artifacts and enchantments and finally (-6) lets you draw cards equal to the creatures you control.

I made a casual deck a little while ago centered around the Hornet Nest/Acorn Catapult/Druid's Call combo and I was wondering if anyone else had thought of it and found a way to make it at all viable in Commander, so I'm glad to see that at least someone else has considered it a possibility. I'm sure it's not in any way consistent, and it's definitely not game-breakingly OP, but I think it's hilarious.
