Wharf Infiltrator —Dec. 11, 2017

Added Wharf Infiltrator to add counters to Skulker through the combat phase. I am dubious to its effectiveness as I feel, intuitively, that it's janking up the deck. But with 2 more abilities that aid this wincon, I hope I'm wrong. Playtesting will only tell.

Further input is appreciated!

Boy, it would suck if Chasm Skulker died first and you lost all of your squid tokens to an Awoken Horror.

@ClockworkSwordfish. Your name is ironic, as this wouldn't appeal to clockwork-playstyle or combo players.

Yes, that available scenario would be unfortunate, but that's up to the pilot to avoid. It's not without its flaws, of course, and I've already stated that it isn't considered competitive.

That being said, do you have any suggestions to make this list better, or are you just pointing out the obvious?

I've never heard of clockwork playstyle! I was just referring to the various Clockwork creatures, such as Clockwork Swarm or Clockwork Steed.

I'm mostly here for the latter, but I'm happy to help, too. Having a creature you don't mind being bounced would be an interesting vector - Snapcaster Mage is probably the most obvious example, but I'm not going to pretend there's any universe in which he's a "budget" choice. Something like Mulldrifter or Draining Whelk might do the trick.

The other option isn't very creative, but Delver of Secrets is bound to get results in a deck this spell-heavy. While you'd have to transform him again if he's bounced, he's only one mana so it's not a huge loss.

@ClockworkSwordfish: Thanks for suggesting; it's a bit more constructive.

Snapcaster was originally in here, and is still being considered. I really like Delver of Secrets. Not sure why I never considered it as I passed 3 while sifting through my blue cards.

The other suggestions are simply too high cost, IMO.

I'll fenangle in 2-3 Delvers and see how it runs.

I love this! I've always thought about something like this, but never had the time to do it!

@franjimen421: Thank you. I thought about this the other night, and my CMC miser brain said "No! 2 is too much!" needed to hear it I guess. I like to keep mana open for counters and psych my opponent out, but that late in the game 2 isn't a problem to pay.

Cheers
