Burn and Removal
Deal with anything I can't. See: Oblivion Ring
Deals with indestructibility. Kills things dead.
Deals with threats before I have to. Poor man's Thoughtseize
See above.
Kills things or people.
See above, but also filters my next two draws.
Also kills things or people and lets me live a bit longer.
People didn't like this card when it came out. They still don't much like it, but they don't understand its purpose. People try to put Mogis in an aggro shell, but that just doesn't work. In a control shell like this one he slowly drains my opponent's life or board state. Either way, it fits really well.
Best burn in standard. Also protects my permanents or, in a best case scenario, give Mogis double-strike.
Utility
Turning excess lands into 3/3 hasty golems sounds good to me. Also, hasty Master of Cruelties is hilarious.
Is card draw, but better.
Long term card draw.
Lifelink is occasionally useful. Mostly to recur threats though. Whipping out a Master of Cruelties is hilarious.
Wincons
So many 1/1s.
See above. Also, +2/+2 and flying is nice.
Worst case scenario draws out removal. Also, kills people. Requires dealing with quickly.
Real nice guy, blowing shit up, having protection from d-sphere and banishing light, reprisal, and ctr, AND flying over people's heads is nothing to scoff at.
The Sideboard
Brought in against opposing burn and any decks running Athreos.
Goodbye, weenies/hexproof.
Messes up haste and makes Obzedat a lot less scary. Also, extort is good I guess.
Deals with things. brought in against creature heavy decks.
Firstly, it's not decide. It's from the Latin word for god, Deus. Anyway, it deals with gods, Underworld Connections and opposing Assemble the Legion
Efficient as hell. Stops whole strategies.
Blows stuff up.
