This is my FNM deck. I'm running the splicers like I would have run slivers back in the day. Using Shape Anew in order to pull out my Blightsteel Colossus. Tempered Steel is just a bonus card. I have Master's Call to give me some early blockers and even throw my Birds of Paradise under the bus as a blocker if I need to. Has a potential 3rd turn Blightsteel Colossus drop...and is pretty consistent. Play it and let me know what you think.

As promised I wanted to share how I play this a bit to hopefully help everyone understand my thoughts as I play this deck.

Know When to Mulligan

  1. If you have a Blightsteel Colossus in your hand and it is game one you need to mulligan.
  2. If you don't have a Forest and a Birds of Paradise or a Avacyn's Pilgrim in your hand you need to mulligan.
  3. If you don't have at least a second turn "untapped" land you need to muligan.
  4. I look for at least ONE of the following cards opening hand on game one: Master's Call or Shape Anew . If you don't have one and it's your first draw you should at least CONSIDER taking a mulligan.

Know Your Deck

  1. Ideal hand would play like: Turn 1: Forest, Birds of Paradise. Turn 2: Sunpetal Grove. BEFORE Turn 3: Master's Call . Turn 3: Island, Shape Anew on one token from Master's Call to pull out Blightsteel Colossus. Turn 4: Any land, Wing Splicer . (Usually game).
  2. Don't be afraid to pull out 4x Shape Anew , 2x Blightsteel Colossus, and 4x Tempered Steel and put in an alternate set of cards for game 2 if for no other reason than to make your opponent hold their removal cards for your Shape Anew or Blightsteel Colossus. Since my recent update this is meant to swap out the combo and transform the deck to tokens. Side in 4x Intangible Virtue, 4x Hero of Bladehold, and 2x Elspeth Tirel.

Know When to Side

  1. If you get your Blightsteel Colossus out and your opponent doesn't remove it don't side.
  2. If your opponent removes the Blightsteel Colossus side the 4x Shape Anew and 2x Blightsteel Colossus out for the Vital Splicer and something else.
  3. If you have no problems first game and your opponents sides heavily ASSUME they are siding to "handle" your Blightsteel Colossus and just side him out and play with tokens.

If you have any questions or anything I should add to this list let me know :) If I think of anything else I will post it as well.
