a bit of a change —April 3, 2013

I did some changes and cleared the comments..... I was thinking a lot about adding blue but still think it would be a slowdown. I tried to playtest against popular aggro decks (simic 1cmc / boros ) and I believe it is competitive...

suggestions and comments welcome.....

Checked the WoC website and it says Killing Wave is still legal in all formats. This must be a typo.

You might consider trading out 2 Caravan Vigil for 2 Farseek

Farseek allows you to search for Overgrown Tomb - a complex land. This is due to its Swamp/Forest type. It would enter tapped regardless of its pay 2 life ability, but its still allowing you to search for a complex land instead of a basic one.

the only thing that i really changed was putting Dawntreader Elk just to speed it up a little so far thats all i have done to it

and u can use it to block and sac it before your next turn

Dawntreader Elk might slow you down some. It costs more than the alternatives to generate a single land - 3 tapped mana.

Some alternatives:

Arbor Elf

Borderland Ranger 3 to 4

*Farseek 2 to 3 (non-basic possibility)

Caravan Vigil 2 to 3

Seek the Horizon 4 to 7

Also Borderland Ranger Gets the land without having to sacrifice your 2/2.

Chaps, did some live playtesting on cockatrice and found out i am doing well with lands. Farseek is useful but it's still a bit more expensive than Caravan Vigil and when morbid is triggered e.g. via card:Altar's Reap it's amazing & speedy option.

I am struggling with aggro/protection decision, either use more card:Ranger's Guile or more card:Altar's Reap & Hunger of the Howlpack

The other thing i need is good mass removal in side any ideas? Sever the Bloodline , Killing Wave , Mutilate or way I tried - more Predator Ooze + Deadly Allure ???

+1 from me. It is a really fast and fun deck to play with.

I sideboarded 2 card:Ranger's Guile, but another good option to sideboard is

4 Sheltering Word

Normally you would want the cheaper Rangers Guile, but since your using corpsejack to farm +1/+1 tokens Sheltering Word might synergize better.

Then every time they want to Detention Sphere or Oblivion Ring or Fiend Hunter they have to ask themselves.... what if he just uses Sheltering Word and I'm only giving him free life?

I think there might be good to be proactive and play Duress instead of hexproof protection.... I'll try ;)Finally it happened to me i was able to play ideal scenario > 1. forest, arbor elf -------2. forest, hydra 1c ------3. woodland cemetery, hydra 2c, increasing savagery, hydra attack 7/7 ------4. swamp, hydra 14c, dreg mangler ....attack 14/14 + 3/3 + ranger's guile ready to protect,

I absolutely love this deck. A suggestion I would have would be Necropolis Regent for stupid amounts of +1/+1 counters and maybe splash red for Curse of Stalked Prey and Markov Blademaster .

November 24, 2012 7:15 p.m.

marsil says... #19

Thanks, i was thinking about red color a lot but honesly it would be completely different concept. Regarding Necropolis Regent i like it much, however three black mana is too much, it would be too often just a useless card in my hand :( I tried Desecration Demon few times and even this card was hard to play in 4round :(

Anyway there are still weak spots. It helped once to switch all the wolves to Duress ....I will move it to side permanently ;)

I know this suggestion would change the entire landscape of your deck but maybe this is something you can use as a 2.0 version.

Heartless Summoning + Primordial Hydra = tons of hydra counters

TraRobins says... #21

I really think that this deck needs some sort of ramp so that you can get an effective number of counters on Primordial Hydra

marsil says... #22

Thanks for your comment, i was considering it in early stage of the deck creation..., adding up Farseek and/or card:Ranger's Path to get some of the Overgrown Tomb s into play quickly. However I have decided for different way using cheap & faster morbid Caravan Vigil & Hunger of the Howlpack .

Completely excellent deck! Really well constructed. I'm looking into getting cards to play it.

Noodles says... #24

Maybe consider Somberwald Sage for some mana ramp? I put it in my deck and the way my deck is set up I had a 10/10 Primordial Hydra with double strike!

December 18, 2012 4:48 a.m.

marsil says... #25

yup, I'd see Somberwald Sage in more hydra focused disk. Together with mana ramp, more controllike deck with less creatures but bigger and a lot of removals/fogs.
