Soulfire Grand Master. What a card, a personal favorite really. As many trigger happy burn players do, I wish she was legendary. Making every Lightning Bolt a Lightning Helix and every Lightning Helix into a weird Lightning Bolt and Renewed Faith lovechild.

We all know that secretly Soulfire Grand Master ill now dub "Sally" just wants to watch the world burn while she gains immortality. So without breaking any rules of EDH, I wanted to make a Sally deck that allowed her to do just that.

The deck of Sally's dreams, Blasphemous Act gaining obscene amounts of life. Acidic Soil making expensive decks cry while you stand on the mountains made of their charred remains, now 30 life ahead.

The question then was how can I make an entire EDH deck around a single card. The easy answer was to ask my playgroup if I could run her as my commander. They said no. So I had to make a deck including many of her cousins as I could. Balefire Liege and Firesong and Sunspeaker are auto-includes but only one of those is legendary, and neither have the blue that Sally requires to be in the deck.

My initial challenge was to find a commander that properly fit the theme and playstyle of the deck. A deck in Jeskai colors and focusing on spells Narset, Enlightened Master sounded like an auto-pick. Sounded like an auto-pick if you're an anti-Sally heretic, go cry in your Narset extra turn tribal Spike. So I picked her leading main man Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest, this man is expendable, uh I mean, he has prowess, we cast spells. It's a good relationship.

I want people to be aware, as you all are, smart little kiddies you, that this is not a decklist. I will link my final deck in this description when that's completed. The thing is, I am at an impasse, I have writer's block for deckbuilding and I think I'm looking and posting this to find the missing piece this idea is missing. Maybe a suggestion from one of you lovely people will fill in the blanks, maybe it will be spoiled in Dominaria.
