Just do it!This guy did not rip off Shia LaBeouf. Shia LaBeouf ripped off this 90's legend.

You wanna be an asshat?

Then Mono-Blue Control is the deck for you! This deck leverages the power of counterspells against midrange decks. As long as you're not fighting a deck that is crazy aggressive, you can pretty much take over the game while not letting your opponent do much, while in the sideboard you have a few silver bullets against the opponents you need to beat. This is a pre-release draft of the new list though, so be assured that this deck will have to be improved as necessary.

Let us explore some of the choices eh?

Without further ado, let's get on to the deck tech.

This card choice is the only reason this deck is viable. It's so powerful, to the point where it's used in Standard, Modern, Legacy, Commander, even Vintage!

Behold this power.

Twenty-four copies. Of Island .

Home to Storm Crow , Spongebob Squarepants, the Kraken from Clash of the Titans, and pretty much anyone worth noting, the card was just never dead in my testing, which is just testament to it's relevance in every format its legal in. It just allows the deck to get the mana it needs to function properly. There are probably reasons to run more, (smackder has what is probably the best decklist to highlight this card's insane power level) but since we actually want to challenge ourselves, we went with this.

Begone!

Every control deck has to have ways to trade resources one-for-one, and this deck is no exception. Blue has the cleanest kind of 1-for-1 in its counterspells, easily trading with the opponent with them having no chance to get value off their card.

Outside of these, however, the deck has improved by actually getting cards that can deal with things that DO stick. While Aether Meltdown and Imprisoned in the Moon are not the best removal spells in the game, they serve our purposes well enough. Also, Imprisoned in the Moon can actually be used as a mana-screwing tool when it comes down to it.

If only we still had card draw this good

The next thing a control deck needs is a way to gain card advantage, and the choice is between Pore Over the Pages and Glimmer of Genius. I'm trying out both right now, but I think Glimmer might be better due to being recastable by Torrential Gearhulk.

I've seen enough hentai to know where this is going

Win conditions for the deck include Torrential Gearhulk and Crush of Tentacles. Not much to say about these really; it's a pretty straightforward win plan of killing them with big stuff.

Bring in all the hate, boys!

Blue isn't really renowned for its hate cards the way white is, but we have some options. Negate is always good against decks with lots of spells, Summary Dismissal is there for Emerge and Emrakul decks, Ceremonious Rejection is there for Eldrazi and artifacts, Confiscation Coup is something that might work out depending on how good the big creatures are in this format, and Engulf the Shore is for tokens and fast aggro.

Overall, I think this is a pretty good deck for anyone wanting to be a good old (annoying as hell) blue mage, but I bring this here to ask for some help, specifically in the sideboard. Comment for suggestions, and upvote if you feel like it, thanks!

Updates Add

We switched out Sanctums for Negates and an Emrakul we mean to hardcast in the late game. We are actually an anti-meta option now since Day's Undoing shuts down whatever Delirium decks are trying to do. This deck is not for anyone who hates games that last more than 30 minutes.
