Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons , Flourishing Defenses , and Nest of Scarabs are your creature generators for the -1/-1 counters. The deck focuses on the snakes as you can keep playing Hapatra. Sacrificing your own creatures is a good thing. Don't be worried to do so. When your snakes get buffed cards like Seshiro the Anointed use them to make more snakes. One snake can make 3 snakes!

Having two of either Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons , Flourishing Defenses , or Nest of Scarabs + Blowfly Infestation and a way to get 1 -1/-1 counter is going to create all the creatures you could ever want.

Devoted Druid + Quillspike and anything that benefits from the -1/-1 counts will create a wonderful combo. Quilspike's removing of a -1/-1 counter is a cost and does not go on the stack. The putting a -1/-1 counted on Devoted Druid to untap her is a cost. You can tap the Druid for Green mana. Use her second ability to get a -1/-1 counter. This will trigger any other cards like Hapatra. Then Quillspike can use that one mana and remove the counter. If anyone puts something on the stack to destroy these creatures. You can spend mana you have from your lands to keep it going. Combine this with Obelisk Spider for an easy game. Devoted Druid + Obelisk Spider + Quillspike
