Commander / EDH Artifact Budget Combo Competitive Mono-Blue

Metastasizing in such a willing host

The real disease has been misdiagnosed

Dehumanizing and difficult to face

We've built our own destruction, the machines of our disgrace!

Basalt Monolith: One of two artifacts that when together, generates infinite mana.

Rings of Brighthearth: The other artifact that gives us infinite mana when paired with Basalt Monolith

Staff of Domination: The outlet to infinite mana. More times than not, the ",: Draw a card" and ": Untap Staff of Domination" will be the abilities you go to immediately.

Walking Ballista: The deck's main win condition. Cast with infinite mana, then ping everyone to death.

Darksteel Forge: Board wipe protection plus one of three artifacts pertaining to the back up plan.

Mycosynth Lattice: Make everything an artifact with ease. Paired with Forge, everything you control is indestructible. Another part of the back up plan.

Nevinyrral's Disk: The third and final part to the back up plan. See the interactions in the next section

Possessed Portal The deck's big red button. When everything else has been destroyed or exiled, drop this to bring the game to a halt.

Myr Turbine: Generates sac fodder for Arcum or for Possessed Portal. We will never use the second ability.

Unwinding Clock: Gives all artifacts pseudo-vigilance.

Paradox Engine: One of two reasons why we can combo off in a single turn.

Citanul Flute: The second of two reasons why we can combo off in a single turn.

Jester's Cap: Get rid of anything you don't like. Especially funny when facing another combo player.

Paradox Engine + Citanul Flute + Basalt Monolith + Rings of Brighthearth + Staff of Domination + Walking Ballista: The go-to combo in the deck, as it can all happen in a single turn. Steps are as follows:

Prerequisites: Arcum, two dorks(or a way to get two dorks on the field), two open mana, any castable spell in hand.

  1. Tap Arcum Dagsson, searching for Paradox Engine.

  2. Cast anything, letting PE untap everything.

  3. Tap Arcum, searching for Citanul Flute.

  4. Tap the Flute, paying 0, searching for one of the following: Memnite,Ornithopter,Phyrexian Walker,or Shield Sphere.

  5. Play whichever creature you searched for, letting PE untap everything.

  6. Repeat Steps 4 + 5 until you have the Monolith, Rings, and Staff on the field.

The next 6 steps are how to generate infinite mana and winning the game. Note that the previous 6 steps can be applied to the back up and emergency plan if you want to go either of those routes.

  1. Tap the monolith, adding to your mana pool.

  2. Pay the untap cost using that , but while it's on the stack, pay from something else which will trigger the rings, copying that untap trigger.

  3. Let the copied untap ability resolve, untapping the monolith. Then in response to the original untap trigger, tap the monolith, adding again.

  4. The original untap trigger finally goes off, untapping monolith again. Tap the monolith again adding an additional to the pool. Rings and monolith together translates to "Pay: Add to your mana pool.

  5. Repeat steps 7-10 until you have an adequate amount of mana floating(read: somewhere in the millions). Use Staff of Domination's first and last abilities again and again to draw your entire deck.

  6. Cast Walking Ballista at a good hearty 1000/1000(or whatever you choose as long as it can kill your opponents), then ping everyone else until victory is at last achieved.

Darksteel Forge + Mycosynth Lattice + Nevinyrral's Disk : Plan B. If any part of the main combo is disrupted, and you cant draw into any recursion, this is the best option for you.

Prerequisites: none.

  1. Over the course of a few turns, slowly bring out the three pieces. Never do Disk last, unless you have a way to untap it. As soon as you can, activate the Disk, annihilating your opponents' boards and hopefully forcing a scoop.

Myr Turbine + Possessed Portal + Unwinding Clock

When the previous two combos have failed and you Jester's Cap hasn't done a damn thing, press this panic button. You could search for just the portal, but that means you will be affected by the end step trigger as well. The other two cards ensure that you have sac fodder each and every turn until something happens to the portal or the rest of the table gives up.

Notes:

  1. Most of this info was pulled from a primer on Mtg Salvation. Please go check out that primer if you want to know more about this strategy, he clearly knows more than I do. http://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/the-game/commander-edh/multiplayer-commander-decklists/217163-arcum-dagsson-tinker-to-victory-1-25-2017#4

  2. "Machines of Our Disgrace" is a reference to a song and album by Circle of Dust(song here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gu5Z-FTRxRM). So just in case: I do not own this song and I do not intend any infringement upon this song, I just thought the title fit.
