Out with the checks, in with the fetches —Oct. 6, 2019

Many have suggested it and it's finally happening. Fetches. Fetches everywhere.

After a few frustrating games of getting hosed due to inadequate mana/colour fixing, I made the decision to remove the fetches I had in all of my 2 colour decks in order to replace the equivalent check lands in here. Finally. They're mostly superfluous and unneeded in 2 colour decks whereas a single fetch could truly save the day in a 5 colour deck. I don't know why I waited so long to do this.

At this point I'm only missing 3 of the 10 fetches which I will collect over time to replace the remaining checks. Looking forward to living that sweet, sweet 10 shocks + 10 fetches dream!

Virulent Sliver is another good wincon.

Fellwar Stone is better than Commander's Sphere IMO

Worldly Tutor is nice to have if you need to search up a mana sliver early. I like Vampiric Tutor too.

Personally, I feel like 37 lands is too many. You can easily get down to 32 or 33 while ramping faster. Check out Crop Rotation , Sylvan Scrying , Carpet of Flowers , and Mana Vault they're all great ramp.

Over all this deck is strong, lots of control. I like that! Only thing you really need is for it to be faster.

So a big +1 for you for the hive. With MH, have you thought about the combo of Sliver Hivelord + Spiteful Sliver + Blasphemous Act .... Its hilarious. Was playing a pod where someone had mass indestructible flyers... Turns out killing the other 2 and then pointing 143 damage to that players face for 1 red is strong lol.

Also, whilst the land base is good, fetch lands would make you so mana fixed. The land base in my sliver deck is by no means complete, there is still fetches to get, but just having the ones I have makes it so much more reliable to get my commander quick.

Jokulhaups is also really strong in an indestructible sliver boardstate lol.

Skyshroud Claim can also be awesome for getting those shocks.

When those boardwipes do happen, Yawgmoth's Will and Patriarch's Bidding can make your opponents cry lol.

Sick deck!

Good suggestions DoWell, cheers. I'm a little on the fence with Virulent Sliver but you're right, that could be a rude poisonous win out of nowhere and I'm considering it.

Totally agree that 2 cost rocks > 3 cost rocks and I'm going to make some changes in that regard. Specifically, I'll be replacing Commander's Sphere + Darksteel Ingot with a Fellwar Stone + Arcane Signet once that's released.

Messing around with The First Sliver has taught me that topdeck manipulation matters so I'll be making some changes to assist with that (e.g. Mirri's Guile + Sensei's Divining Top ) and both of those tutors you've suggested help with that game plan. I'll definitely be slotting in Worldly Tutor but I don't have a spare Vampiric Tutor kicking around. If I ever get one I'll swap out Mystical Tutor for it.

I also agree with your 'needs to be faster' assessment. On top of the cheaper cc rocks I mentioned up there, I also may reduce the utility land count by 1 or 2 ( Arcane Lighthouse sticks out) and slot in a clutch ramp spell like Skyshroud Claim , possibly 1 or 2 of the spells you mentioned.

Thanks Doombeard1984! That Blasphemous Act paired with Spiteful Sliver is evil and I love it, nice one.

Yeah, fetches. Although the current landbase is functional, some fetches in here would seal the colour fixing deal. I have a bunch of 2 colour decks with fetches in them and I'm considering swapping a few of those into here. They're nice & luxurious to have in 2 colour decks but also a little overkill/unnecessary & they'd be much better suited for this deck so I'll need to suss out which ones are most needed and do some land tweakin'.

Jokulhaups ! That's a funny little rage scoop inducer, haha. I've added Skyshroud Claim because you're right, it's fantastic for ramping + colour fixing with all those shocks.

As for Yawgmoth's Will & Patriarch's Bidding , hell yeah. I only have 1 copy of Yawgwin and it's in my Dimir zombie deck but if I ever get my hands on another copy I'll be slotting it in here for sure. I've had PB in here for a long time and yeah, very satisfying being able to recur my swarm after a wipe.

Appreciate the comments/suggestions, cheers!
