Slimefoot's Saproling Infection

Commander / EDH

asigoba1

DECK DESCRIPTION.

This deck is an aristocrats build that seeks to gain value by sacrificing saprolings to draw cards, drain opponents, make them sacrifice their stuff and do other nasty things.

Slimefoot.

Our commander is cheap, so we will be able to cast it multiple times, we are running green so mana shouldn't be a problem for this. We don't really care about spot removal, even though we run Lightning Greaves because they are too good to leave out. However, spells that remove Slimefoot, the Stowaway without making it change zones are the silver bullet against us, so we run a removal package that will take care of these enchantments such as Imprisoned in the Moon and Song of the Dryads

Protecc Slimey.

We are running Lightning Greaves and Snake Umbra as ways to protect Slimefoot. Golgari Charm helps here too.

Ramp.

We run the usual ramp package. Maybe we could run more creature based ramp as we also run a recursive theme for creatures, but I decided to go this way as these spells are just too efficient. Non instant or sorcery ramp spells are Sol Ring , Zendikar Resurgent great mana doubler and card draw engine, Cryptolith Rite which is very good with all these tokens, Sakura-Tribe Elder which is great with recursion and Pitiless Plunderer which gains us value for sacing creatures, and can even combo out in this deck.

Breeding saprolings.

To later use them as a resource, we need to get some saprolings in the early game. As Slimefoot's ability is a little expensive we will be using cards like Scatter the Seeds , Jade Mage , Sporemound , Thelonite Hermit and Tendershoot Dryad . We are also running 3 old school fungi, which we mainly run because the sac outlets and their abilities as the saproling production is so slow and we would have to devote too many slots of our deck to make that version of the deck work. These 3 are Utopia Mycon , Psychotrope Thallid and Deathspore Thallid . Later in the game we can use our more expensive producers, which will be much more efficient, but the more inefficient early producers are necessary.

Multiply our bois.

We have a pack of token doublers to get more resources to use later. These are Second Harvest , Saproling Symbiosis , Parallel Lives and Primal Vigor (if you have the money play Doubling Season ). These last two even combo as we will explain later.

Feed them to the engine.
