In the past, my shop was building Pauper Commander decks based on the deck building constraints posted in Adam Styborski's article "Cheap Date". So unlike other Pauper metas, we were narrowed down to purely the ten MTGO allied generals. (This changed when the format got stale and Dominaria introduced a wealth of uncommon commanders. Also, Ethan Fleischer has confirmed that Chandler and Joven are probably listed rarity mistakes in Gatherer.) This is my Golgari artistocrats tokens build.

Strategy Show

This deck was originally designed aks a foil to a Syr Konrad, the Grim deck that was running rampant in my meta. Unless Syr Konrad, the Grim was hated off the table, it would typically win with the massive amount of damage Syr Konrad, the Grim deals out over the course of the game. With the life gain from Saprolings dying under Slimefoot, the Stowaway, it was possible to retain some parity when the tokens died and "double-up" on the damage dealt by Syr Konrad, the Grim. Couple that with Epicure of Blood and Eternal Thirst, and there's a lot of synergy there.

Card Advantage Show

The card draw suite is the standard set probably found in many Golgari Pauper EDH decks. However, the real star is Pygmy Kavu. When in a pod with any other mono-black, Dimir, Orzhov, Esper, or Golgari list, Pygmy Kavu can typically draw three or more cards. (Our meta is leans heavily on black and blue for card draw.) Coupled with Death Denied in the late game, it can give you a lot of gas to stay in the game for the long haul.
