A take on Onslaught era Astral Slide deck using cycling cards from across Magic's history. While the original version of this deck used Lightning Rift to deal damage as a sort of finisher, I decided to change the decklist once Amonkhet was released.

Key Features

  • Fluctuator is key in this deck, as it allows the ability to cycle pretty much everything in this deck for free, allowing for some insane plays, which will be explained.
  • Eternal Witness makes a comeback from the original Onslaught/Mirrodin era Slide decks, but is primarily used in a very different way than it used to be used.
  • Astral Slide is the main combo pusher. Using Astral Slide allows us temporary creature removal, and abuse of ETB effects with cards such as Eternal Witness or Wall of Blossoms.
  • Shadow of the Grave is the key card now. This card allows you to get back all of the cards you cycled this turn. Instead of using Eternal Witness to gain back one cycling card per turn, you now use Eternal Witness to get this card back so that you may retrieve all of your cycling cards every turn.

Additional Features

The Play

Idea is to use Shadow of the Grave in conjunction with Fluctuator and Eternal Witness to make an almost continuous stream of cycling cards. Astral Slide or Faith of the Devoted would enhance this. At some point you are able to obtain enough mana to start activating Faith of the Devoted a few times while you cycle.

Any feedback is appreciated.
