SKIPdruu control

Zedruu the Greathearted, the Queen of all durdle commanders (Durdle : To stand around and do nothing / take a long time to do something meaningful). So why Zedruu the Greathearted?

Answer: Because Zedruu's ability to give your opponents things and gain advantage (card draw / life gain on your upkeep) opens up an entire style of magic that most other decks don't touch upon -- and because of this, many players will be unequipped to deal with something like this.

So with this Jeskai deck, I wanted to brew a control deck that doesn't just say "no, you don't get to do that one cool thing / cast that one card", but instead says "no, you won't get this entire phase of the game". Like playing lands, drawing cards, or at worst... Upkeep step, Untap step, or even Combat steps.

The dirty combo I had in mind when I started brewing this deck was Zedruu + Stasis + Starfield of Nyx.-Play Zedruu--Play Starfield of Nyx---Play Stasis, then use Zedruu the Greathearted to give Stasis to your opponent.

Because of how stasis works, if you didn't give an opponent Stasis, you'd pay the blue mana on your Upkeep, or let it go to the graveyard... but your Untap was before your Upkeep... so all your lands / blockers would be untapped. By giving Stasis to your opponent (hopefully they don't have Blue mana), they'll let it go to your grave, their turn will be uneventful, your turn comes... you do your thing. Starfield triggers at your End step... returning Stasis, then before your opponent's untap... give them Stasis again.

Rinse. Repeat. RIP your opponent.

There are tonnes of enchantments like this that you'll want to give your opponents as soon as they come into play, so you should consider them +3 cmc, just to be safe (this is why we're running 41 lands and a lot of mana rocks). Aggressive Mining is 7 cmc that reads "target opponent is upset with you now, because they can no longer play their deck". Other cards with similar tech include but are not limited to...

Celestial Dawn (for that non-white EDH deck (they're not allowed to make white mana, so now all their mana is colourless))Form of the Dragon Did someone say Sorin Markov? Hand to Hand for that ellusive combat-trick deck. Illusions of Grandeur will net you 20 life on it's own... but with Venser, the Sojourner, you can blink it to have your opponent LOSE 20 life, and you gain another 20. Mind Unbound could potentially be lethal, given the right circumstances (use it for yourself until the insane drawing gets too risky, then pass it on). Plays insanely well with Pyromancer's Swath , which is a brutal card all on it's own. Statecraft stops those stompy-voltrony decks (I'm looking at you Omnath, Locus of Mana and Zurgo Helmsmasher)! Thought Lash ... How is this even a card?! Jinxed Idol and Jinxed Choker are cute little political cards that can / will hop around the table, but will rarely deal damage to you, since you can pass it off at instant speed. Grid Monitor and Steel Golem ... Be careful with these cards.

Detention Sphere and other cards like that work well with our strategy, since you can give them away and keep that creature exiled :) Narset, Enlightened Master is an auto-include.

AND FINALLY, the skip-steps spells. the Aforementioned Stasis, as welll as Fatespinner and Eon Hub. Eon Hub doesn't exactly work with Zedruu (if you want card draw and life gain at that point... trust me, your opponents will likely want that upkeep step a LOT more than you do!), and Fatespinner is a brutal card to see in play. Hub stops your Fatespinner trigger, so be careful with that too... but these cards are too powerful for a durdle deck to just ignore!
