June Reflections —June 30, 2017

Cuts:

  • Thorn of Amethyst - Thalia is fetchable for the cases where I need it - dropping T1 Thorn is also not as good in a meta with a lot of creature based combo.
  • Eternal Witness - Good card, but this deck really needed another dork. Trying out Arbor Elf in this slot.
  • Hall of Gemstones - Haven't been happy enough to see this card in a number of matchups; replaced with Sphere of Resistance.
  • Cloudstone Curio - Too much of a dead card outside the combo turn. Replacing with Blasting Station since I already run Bow of Nylea for that combo line.
  • Reki, the History of Kamigawa - Too dead outside the combo turn, and Blasting Station is the main combo line now.
  • Sensei's Divining Top - Fine value card but value plays aren't necessarily going to win the game.
  • Forest - Made room for Pendelhaven
  • Blind Obedience - No longer on the infinite extort plan.

Adds:

  • Grafdigger's Cage - Missed this in the last update, helps stop Yisan and Flash Hulk, among other things
  • Arbor Elf - back in because mana dorks are extremely useful and because of the inclusion of a Savannah.
  • Sphere of Resistance - more universal stax piece than Hall of Gemstones.
  • Blasting Station - New combo line involving recurring Hope of Ghirapur repeatedly. Station can ping off some hatebears outside the combo turn, making it much more useful than Curio.
  • Spirit of the Labyrinth - Blasting Station line doesn't involve drawing cards and this is a relevant hatebear against a number of decks. Back in the deck over Reki.
  • Quirion Ranger - Allows Sisay to go off immediately after not being summoning sick to get both Paradox Engine and Mox Opal. Also amazing under orbs.
  • Yisan, the Wanderer Bard - Testing at the moment.

  • Pendelhaven - Another land that can be fetched.

Have you considered running Crucible? You've got Azusa and Strip Mine. Any fetchland, recursion from Armageddon, and I personally love it with Skullclamp and Dryad Arbor in my Lands deck.

Not to mention Inventor's Fair every turn for any non-legendary artifact, can fetch crucible first to get it started.

Just some things to think about. I've been considering building Paradox Sisay for some time. Before P.Engine was printed I wanted to build a Yisan list. (Sisay who fetches Yisan 85% of the time) because I love the synergy with Yisan and tapping effects but didn't want to go mono-G it's pretty prevalent in my meta.
