Sideboard

A new take on the Silverfur Partisan and Zada, Hedron Grinder combo.

This deck is focused on the powerful mechanic of using single target spells on Zada to produce multitudes of wolf tokens and go wide for the win.

The real change from other versions of this I've done in the past is the focus on Cantrips and Treason spells to generate a run away combo.

This deck is in a fairly early stage and needs some refinement, however I have been toying with Zada and Silverfur for some time and feel this is a strong starting point.

In the past, I found Reflector Mage was the bane of this combo. Now that he's banned I want to see if I have more success.

Recently tweaked to increase the number of creatures, adding Ulvenwald Captive   and dropping Rishkar's Expertise. The idea is to play the first 4-6 turns building up werewolves on the board. Once you have Zada and the Rite in hand, you want to drop the Rite, use the creatures to play Zada and ideally have mana open to start the combo the very same turn. Leaving the opponent as little chance as possible to stop it before it's too late.

Kari Zev's Expertise and Wrangle make up the treason spells and were the actual inspiration for this deck. The Expertise gives something new and powerful to the Zada combo, free spells. Rarely would I want to use these spells to take an opponents creature, because targeting Zada and therefore all of my creatures means I am getting 3 powerful effects, untapping creatures, haste and free spells. Combine these spells with Cantrips and Cryptolith Rite and you can essentially draw half the deck, generate a massive wolf army and swing with haste. Note that every spell other than Zada and Silverfur, are 2 cmc or lower.

These two spells together also provide a solid plan B play of beating your opponent to death with their two best creatures.

Lambholt Pacifist  , Ulvenwald Captive   and Metallic Mimic along with Silverfur Partisan make up the Wolves of this deck. Metallic Mimic might be the best thing that has ever happened to Wolves and Werewolves. Of course, she is good for all tribes, but Wolves and Werewolves were sorely lacking a lord. In this deck, she has one major issue that I have not quite worked out yet. Lambholt Pacifist is a werewolf, Silverfur Partisan and her tokens are Wolves. You have to choose, based on the game and your hand, which one needs the buff more. Pacifist can start putting pressure on big time if she enters as a 4/4. Meanwhile, buffing the wolves can give you an easier kill. So far, I don't see a wolf who I'd want to replace the Pacifist with.

Expedite and Renegade Tactics are the Cantrips and do their job well. Expedite has the added bonus of haste, which plays wonderful with Cyrptolith Rite. Renegade Tactics could also be used to sneak past blockers, but more often it's just for the draw.

Cryptolith Rite is a vital keystone to this stategy, which also means it's a vital weakness that opponents can and should target. It can however be brought into play by Kari Zev's Expertise which means you can hold it until Zada and Silverfur are already in play. This leaves very little opportunity for the opponent to destroy it.

Geier Reach Sanitarium Like any combo deck, sometimes you'll find yourself needing to dig up peices. This is the only tool for that right now. More may find their way into the deck later.
