Sygg and his Problems. Show

This deck has undergone many changes since it was fist created. I saw Sygg, River Cutthroat as amazing card advantage, as long as an opponent got swatted for 3.

I have dubbed him "Sygg, Host of the Nightmare" (in relation to Bloodborne's Micolash, Host of the Nightmare) as when my playgroup sees him, he usually has some new trick up his sleeve or has wildly contorted his deck since they last saw him.

Sadly, while being fun to play, he never felt like he was doing anything more than drawing hate.

Phase 1: Unblockable Aggro. Show

Initially this deck was quick aggro deck consisting of unblockables, equipment, and counters. Built to catch the opponent off guard and draw off damage, the deck took off faster than expected, gaining early card advantage by spitting small creatures onto the field and drawing cards for any damage dealt to opponents.

The deck was fastest in this form, dumping it's hand quickly and trying to subsist off of the extra draw from Sygg. It didn't fare too well in multiplayer due to it's intense focus and swinging without remorse.

Phase 2: Rogue Tribal. Show

The deck made a shifty metamorphosis into a tribal deck featuring rogues and the Prowl mechanic. (On cards such as Morsel Theft ) It emerged strong, possibly the strongest the deck has ever been, but had a few downsides.

Rogues as a tribe are generally common, but there are a lot of good rogues in that I wasn't able to use. (Such as Grenzo, Dungeon Warden, Marchesa's Smuggler , or Humble Defector.)

On top of that, the version that my deck run was more preventative. With cards like Earwig Squad and Notion Thief it focused too much on not letting my opponents' play the game. In my (at the time) casual playgroup, this was frowned upon, so the deck changed again.

Phase 3: Draw at all costs. Show

Sygg's current state is drawing anything and everything he can. My playgroup got tired of dealing damage so that Sygg could draw a card, so I took matters into my own hands. The deck started using enchantments and creatures that would directly deal damage per turn so that he could draw cards... to do nothing at all and dawdle around.

The deck is the most fun it has ever been, but usually gets eliminated early because it can't protect itself and pokes at opponents too much.

Phase 4: Retirement. Show

I had a dream about throwing Mechanized Production, Mortal Combat, and Laboratory Maniac to be alt wincons, along with Enter the Infinite since it basically fulfills 2 of the 3 other wincons.
