Notes from tonight —Oct. 23, 2015
Tested the deck out at FNM. The store I go to offers edh in 4 person pod as part of FNM. Played in 2 games/pods.
Pod 1:
I got my enchantress draw engine online and was able to use it to maintain a full hand. I was also able to get both Elspeth, Knight-Errant in play as well as Ugin, the Spirit Dragon. I put into place my defenses with Avacyn, Angel of Hope and Sterling Grove. While my opponents did turn Avacyn into a frog and then board wiped, I still had Ugin ready to Ult. The next turn, I did that, and put into play some more enchantress and ultimately a Akroma, Angel of Wrath. I enchanted her with Flickerform + Ethereal Armor + Shield of the Oversoul + Hyena Umbra + Spirit Mantle + Armadillo Cloak + Eldrazi Conscription and equiped her with Helm of the Gods. I then proceeded to beat face till I Won
Pod 2:
I had nowhere near the good start I had in pod 1. One of my opponents had a white weenie deck that was going nuts. I was able to survive to turn 6 and play Austere Command. wiping his creatures. I then slowly survived additional wipes until had lots of lands and played a Mirari's Wake. I then utilized my vast mana to play Akroma, Angel of Wrath + Eldrazi Conscription + Battle Mastery + Rancor and swung for game.
Take aways:
I found that in both games I ended up having plenty of mana. Having mana sinks like Mobilization, Heliod, God of the Sun, and Quarantine Field helped. The last one was kinda funny as I ended up O-ringing all my opponents permenants. I generally gained most of my mana via Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx and Mirari's Wake
