Do you like artifacts?
Good.
Are you SICK of getting mana screwed, despire spending hundreds on lands that all seem to either deal more damage than your OPPONENT, or force you to wait a turn to use your mana?
Then do I have a solution for you.
BEHOLD!
Creatures:
Chief of the Foundry- solid lord for an artifact-based deck
Gargoyle Sentinel
is essentially just a 3-drop for the curve to keep up the defense. I chose it over other 3-drop artifacts like .
Angel's Tomb
because it isn't conditional and provides decent defense.
Hangarback Walker is an oddball card from Origins, it essentially fills the 2-drop slot unofficially, because it should almost always be cast with X=1. It's beef ability is at instant speed, so you can block with it and tap it after blockers are declared. Not bad. And even if you aren't planning on chumping, the threat of doing so gets scarier and scarier for your opponent.
Juggernaut
is a silly 4-drop that looks a little awkward in this defence-oriented strategy, but it does put pressure on your opponents. Equip a
Ghostfire Blade
to it, and your opponent is not only pressured, but distracted.
Keeper of the Lens
seems a little silly, but
Bonded Construct
needs a buddy, and it can hold artifacts like
Ghostfire Blade
to hold the line. The "Look at face-down creatures" part is suprisingly relevant against Bant Megamorph decks that try to bluff a morphed Deathmist Raptor (that flips for 5 mana) as a morphed Den Protector (that flips for 2).
Scuttling Doom Engine
,
Bonded Construct
,
Ugin's Construct
, and
Ramroller
are fairly self-explanatory, they're just solid, efficient, midrange artifact creatures that make people think twice before attacking.
Spells:
Ghostfire Blade
- so far, the only noncreature artifact I mainboard, but I'm also considering
Throwing Knife
, Hero's Blade, and Prowler's Helm.
Ugin, the Spirit Dragon
is the ultimate win-con. Wipe away your opponent's board for the artifact onslaught!
Lands:
Essentially all the lands are colorless because they have some upside to them. Given that we don't care about color, we happily accept the upsides.
Mage-Ring Network
is a neat little place to dump all that extra mana.
Radiant Fountain
Gains life (duh), but not as much life as
Tomb of the Spirit Dragon
when you have a board presence. Let's run both, and gain ALL THE LIFES!!1!
Foundry of the Consuls
yay artifact buddies for the chief
Haven of the Spirit Dragon
to get ol' Ugin back...? (Mainly just because colorless)
