Shock and Awe(R/W Burn)

Modern* Burn RW (Boros)

DeepbloodEclipse

Description

My attempt at a burn deck, I used to run one mono red, but I quickly came to realize that a mono red burn gets shut down pretty easily. So I decided to splice white.

The mono-red version is this Just burn already

Looks okay to me. You could maybe add Pyretic Ritual, Desperate Ritual, Manamorphose to thin out your deck and get fast mana, Past in Flames works great with the Rituals in your graveyard and provides lots of fuel as you play your hand empty. Maybe you can get some sort of Stormcount up, so you could run a Grapeshot in your sideboard. This way cou can get about 5 dmg for 2. Path to Exile has to be in your deck, not in your sideboard. Maybe, you could cut Skullcrack and Flames of the Blood Hand.

I actually ran the rituals in my mono red, they were amazingly devestating. But yeah, stand out a little too much and people starts sideboarding agaisnt you. I'll see how well they work in this. I'll stick Flames of the Blood Hand and/or Skullcrack into my sideboard, reason why I made it mainboard is because there are some people running lifegain in my local meta, they are reaaaaally annoying.

Play Leyline of Punishment. Or at least add it to your sideboard. This gets rid of Lifelink pretty well. You inspired me to create a burn deck as well. I ended up in red/black. If you want to have a look, check it out (Red Black Burn). Other important cards would be: Hellspark Elemental, because it has some sort of flashback. As well as Rift Bolt and Lava Spike, since they are good 3 dmg for one mana. Another great sideboard option would be Blood Moon. If you play against someone who plays non-basics only, it's an easy win for you.

Yeah, Leyline of Punishment seems like a really good alternative, has the effects of both Skullcrack and Blood Hand. Blood Moon is sadly a luxury I can't afford, I know full well how effective it is, but I'd literally have to get the playset like one card per month, but I have priorities.

Soulfire Grand Master could be really fun here and help outlast opponents

Aha, I knew I forgot something, I acquired Soulfire Grand Master precisely for that reason months ago, thanks for reminding me.

I have a couple recommendations, particularly in your creature slots. Goblin Guide is strait up the best one drop for burn, and Eidolon of the Great Revel is also amazing (yes I know it deals damage to you but your goal is to kill your opponent before that matters). I would recommend taking out the Soulfire Grand Masters Satyr Firedancers, and Desperate Rituals. Lifegian isn't that important because you just want to kill your opponent before they can kill you, you don't really care about their creatures because again you're trying to burn them out before it matters, and the rituals just remove burn spell slots from your deck and make it more likely that you're gonna run out of burn before they're dead. I can understand if you don't wanna pick up the recommended cards though because they're kinda pricy, but there are some more budget options. Rift Bolt is just another slightly slower Lightning Bolt, and Skullcrack can be rather important in some match ups. If you wanna make both changes I think Vexing Devil and Browbeat are the next up in the chopping block, but they're fine cards. I actually recommend adding a fourth Vexing Devil if you don't like the cards mentioned above.

Eidolon of the great Revel is a 100% no. Used it, didn't like it, never again. And Goblin Guide is way too expensive, the fetch lands I can use in other multi color decks, but I don't like spending so much money on cards that are really ever only useful in one deck. I set skullcracks aside for now, since I use Leyline of Punishment should I ever face lifegainers. And Rift Bolts are actually also set aside, infact I did replace them with the Rituals, but they don't seem to work too well in a multicolored burn, guess I'll throw rift bolts back in.

How about playing Searing Blood, perhaps instead of Lightning Helix? helix belongs in the sideboard, I think: In a race, it has a relevant lifeswing of 6. But in any other situation, it's just an overpriced Lightning Bolt. Searing Blood on the other hand, gets you past blockers and deals damage... it just seems more like a mainboard card.

Searing Blood is almost useless in a lot of match ups and blanks a lot more than Lightning Helix. A lightning bolt that's overpriced by one mana and gains you some life is better imo.

A lightning Helix is a multicolored burn staple, absolutely every modern multicolored burn deck runs it and for good reason.
