Lets start with some basic discard
Raven's Crime: My favorite card in the deck. Simple one discard for one plus the retrace ability works great after I've gotten all the lands I need for the game.
Black Cat
: Sort of like a chump block. Opponents tend not to attack me very often early game for fear of the random discard.
Mind Rot
: I only have one in the deck, and Im waiting to replace it with either another Sheoldred or another
Nyxathid
when I get the money to buy another
Liliana's Specter: One of my only flying protection, plus a easy discard one. Great to combo with Sheoldred, Whispering One. Swing with it recklessly and bring it back every turn for a discard.
Guul Draz Specter
: Another new addition to the deck. Damage=Discard is great, plus it becoming a 5/5 is even better.
Nyxathid
: If I get this out turn 3, I am almost always swinging with a 6/6 turn four, and with the proper cards, a 7/7 every turn after. Who wouldnt love that for 3 mana?
Victim of Night
: By far, my favorite kill spell in all of magic. Two mana for a very specific kill restriction. Also have Doom Blade and Dark Betrayel in the side board for when I'm up against certain decks
Quest for the Nihil Stone: One of my new favorite cards in the deck. Early game discard is what I live for, so drop one of these turn one, and by turn 4 it has enough counters and I have some specters out to make you lose you hand. 5 life at the beginning of your upkeep? Who wouldn't want that
Liliana Vess: Added another one because why not? Her +1 is great for late game Quest for the Nihil Stones and her -2 can help get me a Sheoldred, Nyxathid, Painful Quandary, or anything I might need! Also, her -8 is pretty much always a game winner. Plus bringing back all of my specter for major discard
Crypt Ghast: Mana acceleration plus Extort. What else must I say?
Sign in Blood: Not completely sure why I need these in the deck, but they've been there since day one, and every time I play around with out them, the deck doesn't seem to work at all. Also for late game, if I have
Omen Machine
out, it's a simple 2 for two life loss for opponents
Omen Machine
: Part of my establishing combo for this deck when I first started working on it months ago. Omen Machine + Painful Quandary = Amazing discard and life loss. The recently added Nihil Stones also go great with it once opponents lose their hand.
Painful Quandary: Another card in the deck that has seen through every deck revision and remaking. Discard or lose 5 life? and so many things to combo it with. Best. Card. Ever.
Howltooth Hollow
: My only non-basic land. I find the card retrieval very helpful. Who wouldnt want to play a Sheoldred turn 5 for one mana? My only problem is getting no cards in MY hand!
