Sharuum, The Esper Matriarch

Mind Stone: This deck represents Mind in my "Gauntlet"

This primer has been a long time coming, this deck is my first ever commander deck, and where my passion for the game really ignited. Until completion of this primer the deck will be listed as private as this will need lots of attention, and deserves to be done correctly.

If you are reading this, the primer is complete and my work with Sharrum's development is all but finished.

I leave you reader, in the in the thrall of The Esper Matriarch.

-TrueSharinganx

Sharuum the Esper Matriarch Sharuum is an observant sphinx, shrewdly gazing down at those who approach, eliminating those deemed to be less than superior. Aiding her in the systemic removal of all imperfections in the multiverse is an ensemble of shining artifacts, brimming with power, and interaction. All of Alara shall be shaped to perfection and bend to her will, combos, synergy, and isolation these are the tenants of the Matriarch, heed these and all will fall before your might.
This deck is not an offensive deck, nor a deck that seeks a direct conflict with opponents. That is not to say the deck is not capable of being offensive, however, aggressive plays are not made with creatures, but rather with guile as the sphinx commands.

Early game, a solid starting hand consists of 2 lands and a rock Sol Ring , Mana Vault , Lotus Bloom , Orzhov Signet or similar.

A decent hand is similar, but with 3 lands instead of two, from there, several draw mechanisms and tutor machines exist to ensure that we are able to locate what our matriarch commands.

In accordance with wit, and cunning of a sphinx, this deck has solutions to a variety of decks, and play's that are normally detrimental. A prime example is Tainted AEther , this card shuts down any army/token deck in short order, given we don't utilize creatures much as Sharuum prefers the cold silence of artifacts, this proves to be a detriment to opponents while not impacting us at all. This is to be continued in the next section regarding suppression.

In keeping with the shrewd and calculating nature of the sphinx and anticipating how our opponents will play which is ever varying, there are numerous cards in here that globally change the pacing of the game. (Fort/Tempo Control) These cards are as follows:

Ethersworn Canonist - this card given most other players splash artifacts like heathens as opposed to embracing the cold metal of Esper is instrumental in slowing down the development of enemy board states.

card:Day of Judgement and Wrath of God - prevent the board from being overrun with inferior constructs.

Phyrexian Rebirth - this not only cleanses the field of heretics but repurposes their husks for our Matriarch to use in quelling the insurrection.

Grand Abolisher - None shall speak while the almighty Hedgemon is speaking.

Aura of Silence - You will pay tribute to the Sphinx should you wish to speak

Blind Obedience - You will kneel before the Esper Matriarch

Energy Field and Solitary Confinement - You shall not harm the Matriarch

Detention Sphere -You shall be bound

Oblivion Ring - You shall be banished

Profess your love unto your matriarch, or be destroyed.

The following cards serve to feed and grow the matriarch's power, ensuring that she is able to utilize her power at will. (Tutors/Draw)

Nevinyrral's Disk - I'm not positive this is still in the deck, if so I'm a monster, use this with Darksteel Forge , and make your enemies bow.

Unwinding Clock - Untap all artifacts you control during other players untap step.

I.. said.. KNEEL! (Power Plays, not combo's in their own right, simply powerful)

Mindslaver - The almighty sphinx demands all your turns, forever!

Planar Portal - As the almighty sphinx, Sharuum is able to search her library at will.

Memnarch - Mana outlet, using Memnarch as a conduit, he demands all your permanents.
