Selvala's Beast Tribal

Commander / EDH*

I knew right away I wanted to build around Selvala, Heart of the Wilds and she is thankfully very flexible so I went for beast tribal. My interest in the beast tribe began becasue I started playing around Judgment/Onslaught and therefore opened a lot of Legions and Scourge. I have included a lot of those classics Krosan Drover, Feral Throwback, Krosan Warchief, Wirewood Savage and others along with some new support.

The plan is to use mostly creatureless ramp and then to start beastin'. The deck is currently very light on removal, we're just hoping to Overrun and smash in faces.

The deck should be decently positioned to take advantage of the card draw clause on Selvala, Heart of the Wilds along with her mana generation. As soon as anything big comes down for us, Selvala's mana generation starts exploding very quickly.

I tried to pack as much card advantage and utility into the creature base as possible. I tried to focus more on noncreature ramp because it seems that mana dorks are usually more vulnerable than just ramping for lands directly. Not only that, but over the course of the game our deck-thinning should help keep the beasts/beats flowing.

The mana curve is a bit higher than I'd like, because I stayed away from the little mana dorks. I'd like to good odds of having a high-power creature in my opening hand to boost Selvala's mana generation. From the initial goldfishing I've done, as long as I can get about 4 lands in play relatively soon things seem to work out alright. That is of course contingent upon both Selvala and a large creature remaining alive, but even if you get disrupted, eventually your land-searching mana ramp will get you going.

I own about half of these cards already and am trying to decide if I want to purchase the rest. It's a bit of a departure from my typical EDH style, so I might go for it to add some variety.

Let me know what you think!
