i would take out the revenges for 1 each of thragtusk and restoration angel. that combo with trostaniis just too good to only have 2 of each. then add 1 more of trostani and 1 wolfir. otherwise i like the ramp and potential bigness of this deck!! +1 from me

I hear what you're saying, but I can't escape the evidence that I keep seeing during playtesting: Revenge of the Hunted is the end of the game, with me as the victor... like, every time I use it!

Simply having a Silverblade Paladin bonded to a Wolfir Silverheart means that Revenge on a mana dork equals 30 unblockable damage!

My brain must insist that its really (6x2)+(8x2) = 28. I'm all for hyperbole as a persuasive instrument . . . but math is truth in magic.

I included the two damage the Arbor Elf would do after getting blocked by Hollowhenge Beast ... whistles

Nice catch though, math is king and truth is its crown. +1 to one of your decks, sir!

Seems very powerful. My concern from my few play tests is end-game you don't have too consistent card draw and mana dorks are near dead draws, Collective Blessing may make them useful, but only when you draw them. +1 though, and check out my deck deck:populate-everything

Heh heh, I believe you'll find that word on Revenge of the Hunted ... The Blessing is currently in there to try and make something of my mana dorks in the later game, and though it is very expensive to cast, my ramp can often get me there pretty easily.

I think that they will eventually come out, especially if I replace the Creature Ramp with Farseek and Selesnya Keyrune to avoid sorcery-speed removal that cuts my manabase.

+1 for the name xD.

LOL, thanks... it was pretty pompous of me to claim. Now I have to make a new deck to try with non-creature ramp, which might even work better!

Bad FNM, doing a major deck overhaul. This is the original deck, but I didn't play with four Temple Garden s, and I had mana problems. The Gavony Township colourlessness and the Arbor Elf s didn't work well together at all.

Creature (28)

2x Acidic Slime

4x Arbor Elf

2x Armada Wurm

4x card:Avacyn's Pilgrim

2x Elvish Visionary

4x Restoration Angel

4x Silverblade Paladin

2x Thragtusk

4x Wolfir Silverheart

Land (22)

6x Forest

2x Gavony Township

6x Plains

4x Sunpetal Grove

4x Temple Garden

Instant (4)

4x Cloudshift

Sorcery (4)

4x Revenge of the Hunted

Enchantment (2)

2x Collective Blessing

Sideboard (18)

4x Rest in Peace

4x Selesnya Keyrune

2x Selesnya Charm

4x Farseek

4x Loxodon Smiter

Maybeboard (5)

1x Strangleroot Geist

1x Thalia, Guardian of Thraben

1x Ground Seal

1x Mayor of Avabruck  Flip

1x Deadly Recluse

I will archive this when I post the new deck.

I'm also taking out the Elvish Visionary s for Strangleroot Geist s, and the Collective Blessing s for Call of the Conclave .

what would you take out in place of more thrag?

October 13, 2012 12:44 p.m.

Long_Con says... #12

I would probably take out the Acidic Slime s for Thrags, but it would be a hard decision. The Slimes are so versatile, and wonderful to bounce with Restoration Angel ... but the Thragtusk s are always good, work amazingly with the Angel, and are of interest to Trostani with the Beast tokens.

I would go 3/3 on mana dorks over 4/2 as the elf is better if you draw a shockland. I would drop one 5/6 drop from your deck and add a land as 21 is a bit low if your curve is 6. 1 trostani and thrag would be good for the sideboard. If youvwant to look at my g/w list I would be happy to get some input from you again,Sigarda's army 2.0

Long_Con says... #14

The curve is slightly deceptive, as four of the five 6-drops are Revenge of the Hunted , which I usually Miracle unless I draw it in the first few turns. I follow a formula where I use 24 lands in a 60-card deck, but I can drop a land for every two alternate mana sources, so 21 and 6 dorks is where I like to be, and it has been good so far.

I agree that the Arbor Elf interaction with Temple Garden is ideal in theory, but in practice I have found that it lets me down more than it makes a 'good' difference - 2 Sunpetal Grove s and a Plains and the Elf is useless. I don't want to be forced to mulligan just to make my mana dork work.

Thanks for the interest - it looks like this is going to be my FNM deck for a while, so I'm always interested in hearing ways to make it more deadly! I'll share some of the things that have worked best with you, over on Sigarda's Army!

A great attack deck where the beatsticks shine mid game and does not relent. Plus +1 from me!

i did some playtesting against 2 of my decks with this deck.

vs Sigarda's army 2.0 you win 5/9 games. your deck is slightly faster but if it gets to turn 6-8 i can win with cards like Champion of Lambholt , Garruk Relentless  Flip , and card:Trostani, Selesnya's Voice. Miracles ended the game for whoever was the first to cast it

vs angel's miracle i win 3/5. when i control the board with board wipes at almost every turn after turn 3 you cant do much

Thanks, Azure124, perhaps the sideboard of some Rootborn Defenses would help me against big sweeping decks!

@Long_Con

Unfortunately my friend as I have also been finding out, not against Terminus . The tokens that are left, the populate and the Cloudshift are what saves me most of the time. I hope you find something that works for you.

I wonder if Selesnya Keyrune is a viable alternative to mana dorks in this kind of situation?

October 15, 2012 3:50 p.m.

Azure124 says... #21

It would be interesting to side in in place of them. Garruk Relentless  Flip is also something to consider for siding against control

I've been using your deck to playtest against my deck:rdw-ravnica-edition-1 build since it made top 8.

After playing about a dozen games here are some observations: 4x Revenge of the Hunted is excessive, seeing this in an opening hand is never a good thing; I had to take a ton of mulligans, 2 land hands with card:Avacyn's Pilgrim were pretty unplayable; mana was an occasional problem, your deck loses tempo when it can''t cast a turn 2 Strangleroot Geist , you need more green in your mana base.

Finally, A couple Thragtusk in the side board along with other lifegain tech would probably help against zombie/artist or if RDW is in your meta.

Long_Con says... #23

Thanks, burnham! I'll take your thoughts under advisement, switch out a plains for a forest for starters. Dropping a Revenge is agreeable to me, it's true I have been seeing a lot of them in my opening hands, and I rarely hardcast them.

If there is room I might even suggest a Garruk, Primal Hunter for some card draw and extra tokens for the populate. Seems to fit right in !

October 18, 2012 12:24 p.m.

Long_Con says... #25

I like the idea of Garruk, Primal Hunter and Garruk Relentless  Flip , actually. But Hunter edges it out, even though he occupies the 5-drop slot like everything else awesome in this deck...
