It's KITTYTIME!

Before you read on: This deck is NOT meant to be top-of-the-line-win-the-GP-competetive, it is a deck that I created for my GF to have fun with Magic in Standard, and to maybe win a few games a the local store. It has not been properly playtested, nor has it won anything yet. Just keep that in mind if/as you read on.

When I saw the Hour of Devastation cards, I knew instantly what I wanted to make in the new standard. Me and the wife have always loved kitties and have owned them ever since I was small, and now, I can wreck havok with them in MTG. It's gonna be a hoot!

Feel free to give any advice and feedback you can think of! If you like the deck, feel free to give it an upvote! What would the biggest strength of this deck be? And what is it's greatest weakness?

Also, we would be greatly honored if you would give the deck an upvote (if you like it). :D

Main deck premise and idea

So the premise is simple...

Get a lot of cats on the board with Anointed Procession, Pride Sovereign and all your other delecious, token-making cats (Sacred Cat, Adorned Pouncer, Regal Caracal), control the board with your overwhelming amount of kitties, then run him over with Overcome or Appeal / Authority for great cat-victory.This process is made easier with the prescence of Vizier of the Menagerie on the board to help you get the cats out quicker, and Heroic Intervention to make sure that you don't get cleared so easily.Metallic Mimic will see to it that your kitties are beefy enough to withstand punishment and gain you a fair amount of life in the process.

You want more win-conditions? We have more! If for some reason you can't break through your enemies defences, you always have the option to sacrifice your kitties on the unholy alter of Westvale Abbey   and crash into your opponents face with a huge demon!

Sideboard

Basically, Repel the Abominable is the closest we are going to come to a Fog in this standard format, which makes it pretty stable in my sideboards, since both Hour of Devastation and the Electrostatic Pummeler-combo is a thing in standard.

If you should stumble upon a mirror-match with a lot of tokens, Declaration in Stone will wipe them off the board for you.

And should you be facing , the extra Prowling Serpopard is there to make sure that your kitties will not be countered to an early grave.

We also have a bit of Gideon, Ally of Zendikar in there for the control-matchup, as he is very hard to wipe off the board, and also synergieses very well with Anointed Procession.

Last but not least, we have the migthy Manglehorn to take care of whatever pesky artifact your opponent would throw at you.

Hope that you enjoy the cats! I will keep updating the deck and deck-description with more details on each card as the deck develops.

Updates Add

Big changes to the deck and sideboard

Cut from Mainboard: 2x Crested Sunmare, 1x Rhonas the Indomitable, 2x Gideon, Ally of Zendikar, 1x Metallic Mimic, 1x Vizier of the Menagerie

Moved from Sideboard to Mainboard: 3x Heroic Intervention, 3x Prowling Serpopard

Added to Mainboard: 2x Appeal / Authority

Added to Sideboard: 1x Repel the Abominable, 1x Manglehorn, 4x Gideon, Ally of Zendikar

So a lot has happened to the deck. The most siginficant changes, ioo, are as follows:

Moved Prowling Serpopard from Sideboard to Mainboard

After looking over the deck, we felt like there were too few cats in the cat-tribal deck. This is what finally pushed us to cut the horses and put in extra cats. Even though the upside of Prowling Serpopard is limited to very specific matchups, it is still a cat (thus synergising with the buffs and global upsides of the deck), and it is also an uncounterable 3.drop that is a 4/3, which is pretty decent value.

Moved Gideon, Ally of Zendikar to Sideboard and moved Heroic Intervention to Mainboard

First off, Gideon felt a bit heavy to be playing a lot of in the 4-slot, plus he didnt have amazing synergy with the rest of the deck (appart from the obvious token-synergy with Anointed Procession). We felt that playing down the Vizier of the Menagerie on turn 4 felt so much better. Also, we realised that the deck REALLY needed something to withstand sweepers with, and therefore moved Heroic Intervention into the Mainboard.

Added Appeal / Authority to Mainboard

Lastly, we felt like having more ways to break through enemy lines were more than welcome, especially because Appeal synergises too well with the fact that the deck is going to have a million little kitties on the board at almost any time.

Final Thoughts

We really want to make room for Solemnity in the sideboard, as energy-decks seems to be quite prevalent right now, and are thinking about cutting down on the Manglehorns to maybe just 1, or completely cutting it. Let us know what you think below!
