Updates on the new deck list will come up shortly :D
So after a couple of bad FNMs with the past list, I adjusted the list to what is currently being played at my current store.
Ok so I have to blame this entirely on myself lol. The matches went
Mono green devotion 2-0
This appears to be the best matchup this deck has. Constant spot removal, even after a play of 2 Burning-Tree Emissary into Scavenging Ooze gaining 2 life, were taken out by a well timed Anger of the Gods , it was downhill for him at that point, after getting nibbled by Pack Rat s. Game two was the same story, but I won with Master of Cruelties
Gruul devotion: 1-2
Possibly the best match up for this deck, but I kept a horrible hand on game 3 -___-... and lost to a Worldspine Wurm (this kinda makes me happy, as this card is awesome lol)
Mono black devotion: 2-1
First game kept the worst hand in history because I had 2 Thoughtseize in hand and 2 Blood Crypt s -_- I killed myself >.<. Second game sideboarded the Dark Betrayal s which made for easy games 2 and 3.
ANOTHER mono black devotion 0-2 wtf -_-
Most horrible hands ever lol. These two games proved Wainwright right! this kinda needs (erm... NEEDS) card draw. I played without Read the Bones to honor the deck that was 4-0. Not the best of ideas. Plus I never drew my Pack Rat s, Master of Cruelties o any of my Mutavault s.
Learned a lot tho :)
I finally got the chance to test this deck in a competitive environment. Went 4-0, winning most matches with relative ease, as it appears that having over 14 removal spells mainboard breaks the meta :)
Match 1: Naya aggro (2-0)
Started strong with Thoughtseize ing his Voice of Resurgence , then doom blading and downfalling the critters he dropped. Shrieking Affliction proved to be the star of this deck; the guy dropped this hand fast on the board, just to get burned by Anger of the Gods and dropping two afflictions. Game 2 I dropped a rat turn two, after duressing his Pithing Needle :D
Match 2: Naya burn (2-1)
Tought match, went in a similar fashion than the first. I forgot about he having 2 loxodon smitters in hand as I casted a Rakdos's Return for 4. Two elephants on the field lost me one game-_-. Sided them out for Lifebane Zombie , to swing for a LOT with a little help pf liliana of the dark real s
Match 3 mono blue devotion (2-0)
Love playing this match up! Kept his devotion low with constant removal, he drew 2 Thassas and lost to constant life loss from Shrieking Affliction
Match 4 Boros aggro burnish (2-0)
The guy got mana screwed HARD, so first game was easy (but not fun). Game two I ended up with 5 life, but Rakdos's Return ed him for 6 plus 2 afflictions on the board! Painful to see, delicious to do :)
Overall I feel that the extra land helped a lot (used to run 22). As I never had mana issues :D
Looks interesting so let me know how it goes:
So am guessing it's an adjustment to your meta the reasoning behind it - loads of removal now - keep the board clear until you hit the "bombs" to change the deck in your favor.
based on your win-cons being 5cmc and 6cmc now - have you thought about 1 or 2 Mizzium Mortars MB - overload for 4 damage could be worth it.
I changed my deck too - included 3x Liliana's Reaver , don't know if you saw the update - hugely positive outcome imo.
Just want to get some testing in now vs more standard decks.
just a thought, but having one or two Crypt Incursion in mb would probably work out pretty well, its kinda makes up for the suiciding that black does, and helps survive until aggro decks lose their steam...
i tried it out in my rakdos deck (not really discard, but still suicidal), and with the ridiculous amount of removal in rakdos, theres always something to eat in some graveyard somewhere
