Out of curiosity, how do you avoid hitting your smaller creatures when you polymorph? For example, Myr Sire?

A fried I have used to run a similar deck to this and he got Blightsteel 100% Of the time for 1 reason only: it was the one and only creature in the deck. I would suggest removing all but Blightsteel as well so you dont hit an undesirable creature with your polymorph ability.

OblivionBringer, Often I don't, but I have started to take them out. The only small creature I will most likely keep in is Reef Worm. This I hope to solve somewhat soon.

iNaturalize, I would love to do that and will most likely take out many of the smaller or less useful creatures. However, only using Jalira's ability once seems like a waste, so it might come down to leaving Darksteel Colossus, Blightsteel, Clever Impersonator, Deep-Sea Kraken, It That Betrays, and maybe Thassa in. Thassa because it can't be hit by Polymorph and the unblockable is great. I also just don't like only having one major creature on the battlefield.

Thanks for the suggestion!

My friend used Talrand, Sky Summoner as his Commander because it can make polymorph targets and used Proteus Staff for another polymorph effect.

I believe Thassa's devotion ability only takes effect on the battlefield, and can be polymorphed into.

OblivionBringer: Yeah. Thassa can't be hit by Jalira though because Jalira says nonlegendary. Polymorph is different in that way, but I didn't realize it. If I decide to run Thassa, it won't be included.

iNaturalize: Proteus Staff is already in there. But I totally agree. Regarding Talrand, I would prefer to keep Jalira, Master Polymorphist as the commander, but seeing how Talrand is legendary, I might mainboard it.

What if you tried running the other "of empires" artifacts, and artifact tutors like whir of invention to find them and isochron scepter (although tinker is so banned)? You already have important artifacts anyway.

Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur was in here for a bit until I realized that Jalira doesn't hit it because it is legendary. I definitely will think about the other "of empires" as well.

Take out Kira, Great Glass-Spinner!!! It makes it so you can no longer polymorph unless someone fizzles a spell on the target first!!! Put in something relevant and really good instead, like Batterskull!!!

Thanks. Any ideas for other cards that offer board protection? Blightsteel Colossus easily gets overwhelmed by a Swords to Plowshares.

I would potentially chuck in Lat-Nam's Legacy just in case you draw one of your creatures.

Ashmed: Thanks for the suggestion. I already have Brainstorm for this purpose, which I can easily Kaho, Minamo Historian. But if I have room I will play around with it.

Have you considered Timestream Navigator? Extzra turns seems good

Jaypay1994: It actually isn't always that I have 10 permanents on the battlefield. It only takes 5 for a Blightsteel Colossus, so yes, the extra turn would be nice, but only if it is consistant and reliable, which in this deck it isn't. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Have you considered including Polymorph to be able to do Jalira's effect without needing her on the field (and thus when your opponents do not expect it)?

You could also run effects like Sunder to make your opponents unable to respond once you do drop your finisher. I'd also run an Eldrazi with Annihilator before I ran Darksteel Colossus, but that's more of a personal taste thing. I concur with the statement about Timestream Navigator, by the way. Other possible options are Tidespout Tyrant, Stormtide Leviathan, or Pathrazer of Ulamog.

Beyond that, the combo with Kaho, Minamo Historian+Dramatic Scepter doesn't work, since the spells that Kaho casts go to your GY after resolution.

I wish you the best of luck with this deck! :)

Thanks for the suggestions Daedalus19876!

The problem with Polymorph is that it hits legendary creatures as well. I run four legendaries that I would rather not waste a Jalira ability on.

Sunder is honestly a great idea. I'll playtest it when I have time.

I was thinking about taking Darksteel Colossus out anyway, but I already tried it with Stormtide Leviathan. Tidespout Tyrant seems just overall like I would rather have one of the other three instead at any given moment. I might add Pathrazer of Ulamog, but it seems like I could be fine with just the other three creatures.

I tried the navigator after it was suggested, but it never really worked unless I tried REALLY hard to get the city's blessing.

Thanks for the unfortunate insight on Kaho, Minamo Historian. I thought it was just Isochron Scepter on a stick. Darn. Also, 'dramatic scepter'?! Cross between Isochron Scepter and Dramatic Reversal I guess :)

Hello, I'm here as requested, so have a +1 on me.

Since I've played Baral Polymorph for 1v1, I'd attest that the most consistent strategy in blue here will win you the game, if you want to be more competitive, I'd take out the other finishers besides Blightsteel, and just add more sac outlets so it can be put back into your library whenever you can't protect it with a counterspell.

That being said, I love polymorph decks, and the synergy here is pretty strong. More finishers does make the deck more fun, so it's up to you on what you want to get. Eldrazi are strong, and playing polymorph gives you the biggest creatures in magic (potentially of course!)

You said in your request that there was a particular card that you might consider purchasing that would raise the deck budget? I'm curious as to which card that is.

As for anything else, this deck looks solid and fun, and I hope you enjoy it; if you have any considerations you are thinking of putting in and want to run them by me, by all means let me know.

You might also want to consider replacing braingeyser, as it's 60$. How about a Summoner's Bane instead?

April 5, 2018 11:02 p.m.

aceofrainbows says... #24

cosmcbun: Nah, that's only if you buy the unlimited version. You can get one from Revised on TCGplayer for like $2. I wouldn't have it in here if it way $60.

I auditioned Summoner's Bane but it failed. I always needed a counterspell for less mana.

Thanks for the suggestions though!
