Thank you all who helped me make the izzet control but i honestly think izzet is good but not in the current standard, so im going to throw in black, would really appreciate help!

lol on the description.

First, I think you might be able to drop a land, maybe even 2. 26-7 is probably plenty. You'll have to playtest to be certain.

Hand disruption is incredibly powerful against both of the archetypes you wish to counter. To this end, I would suggest the following:

  • +2x Thoughtseize to the main: Too good not to be a 4-of. I'd get rid of Teleportal for it.

  • +4x Duress to the sideboard: Use this against Esper/Azorius control (I would say board out Anger of the Gods for this matchup). Suddenly you have pre-emptive counters to their countermagic and removal spells. Awesome.

+2x Counterflux to the sideboard: Gives you unmitigated control of the stack against control decks. Kind of a late-game card. The Esper guy will try to Sphinx's Revelation and leave just a smidge of mana open to counter your counter. Drop this, boom. It don't happen. Skullcrack is a similar option, but it's really up to you. With 'Flux, you'll be able to stop them from drawing cards AND gaining life.

  • +3x Electrickery to the sideboard: Blast those small aggro weenies!

  • +3x Bile Blight to the sideboard: Kill more aggro creatures.

  • -1x land, -1x Dispel , +2x Mizzium Mortars to the main: Great removal. Versatile throughout the game. You could move the other Dispel to the sideboard for a total of 15 cards there, by my count.

I like the deck a lot, it's very nice. If you end up dropping 2 lands, I'd say add the extra Hero's Downfall . Though there's also Dreadbore available.

I hope my ideas are of some small use to you. Cheers!

I don't Like Dispel main... Its too niche. I like to protect against creatures first and then focus on beating Control post side. Bear in mind if they put you on a control deck they are going to bring in Brimaz, King of Oreskos or Archangel of Thune or Obzedat, Ghost Council or Blood Baron of Vizkopa

May i ask why are you splashing for black? Why dont you just slim it down to just izzet and play with a tighter mana base. Lightning Strike is a good card. Playing striaght izzet would allow you to add in some ammount of Jace, Architect of Thought

My suggestion -3 Dispel and +3 Izzet Charm

-take out black altogether and play +2 Jace, Architect of Thought

First off thanks Xuhle for the feedback and i will take everything you said into consideration but i just want to explain myself why i have black and if you or anyone can help me with some trade outs for the black ones. I put black to get the Thoughtseize , really helpful for stopping the early game aggro and so i can use Slaughter Games , just in case you didn't know i loathe Supreme Verdict . so what im asking now is what should i do since il be trading out alot of my dual lands that have black mana on, what should i switch it out for and what i should switch out for Thoughtseize and Slaughter Games if i do take out my black of course.

-2 Dreadbore +2 Lightning Strike or Magma Jet

-1 Hero's Downfall -2 Thoughtseize -1 Ral Zerek +4 Jace, Architect of Thought

-1 Pilfered Plans +1 Thoughtflare or Opportunity (its just a one of but its the best we've got, we cant Sphinx's Revelation so this will have to do)

-1 Melek, Izzet Paragon +1 AEtherling is just better

To the side board

+1 Ratchet Bomb Hexproof Aggro

+1 Flames of the Firebrand for aggro

+2 AEtherize for Hexproof

+2 Negate

I feel you have enough Counters to hold your own against Control, whats your bad matchups? Against Esper you might want to side board into a few more Negate to replace your Slaughter Games (Don't get me wrong slaughter games is amazing only we cant play those colours)

Maybe think about some number of Magma Spray against Voice of Resurgence , and Xathrid Necromancer at worst its just a shock against aggro as well.

-1 Essence Scatter, -2 Magma Spray, +3 Anger of the Gods .

May 1, 2014 3:28 a.m.

zandl already got Anger of the Gods but thanks for reinforcing it, such a good card for stopping those damn aggros, but if you have any other suggestions I will gladly consider it, still need help with a better side board and another win con card(s).

Right. T/O is weird sometimes and will list your Sorcery spells under sideboard and maybeboard.

I like Magma Jet a whole lot more than Magma Spray . Being able to hit players and Scry 2 kinda makes it better.

you need some more counterspells such as Dissolve and Negate in the sideboard

He already has four copies of Counterflux which is already pretty heavy.

I love the deck and description. How many times can I upvote this? Only once?!? That's not cool. I wish more people put the time into their description as you do. I will definitely try a version of this at some point although maybe more budget. The Nivix Cyclops are good especially for blocking as well as winning. Guttersnipe may have more killing power but I think you need the sustain you get from cyclops and that he is out of range of most except Mizzium Mortars and fighting an opponent's monster with Domri Rade .

Hey thanks fightkiing really appreciate that, means a lot. Really i like it as well when people put time into there decks or really just have fun with it. When i first came on to tapped out a couple months ago i saw the best guide ever and it made me laugh so hard and i vowed i would make my own guide that someone would see and change how they made there decks!! Just like TIBALT THE WORTHLESS by Shiznot XD the guide that made me want to put time into mine!!!!

Let us know when you get a chance to try this deck. I want to try izzet control as well since I love the mage style of izzet and already have the vents.

Now you listen to me you sick Son-Of-A-B, i don't know who you are or where you came from BUT I WILL END YOU!! DON'T WAKE THE SNAKE!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nv7Ts4v5_Bs#t=100

Hey thought im sorry about the name of the title and the deck you have XD but i made this deck because i really hate rakdos and esper, and now because of the Journey Into Nyx there will be a lot more aggro decks, so i made this so i will have an easier time, plus my first deck i want to actually try and win with at tournaments and FNM. i hope you understand kaboomeow that we can't be friends and instead we will be lifelong enemies, YOU AND THE REST OF YOUR KIND!!!

I really enjoy this deck and I'm actually working on my own at the moment, but using only Theros block cards. +1

How do you plan to tap master of the feast with ral zarek? You tap an opposing creature in your turn, the opponent untaps and attacks ... (planeswalker abilities are played at sorcery speed)

galaxy1o1 says... #19

Maybe put in Spellheart Chimera instead of Nivix Cyclops ? I think it would work out better for you.

May 13, 2014 10:39 a.m.

Thanks for finding that error in my text Munkimunk and galaxy1o1 I'm not sure id take out Nivix Cyclops because I'm so in madly love with it, but I am willing to add a Spellheart Chimera ... didnt even know that card existed.

May 13, 2014 10:55 a.m.

@galaxy1o1

Another thing I like about Nivix Cyclops is that I can freely block creatures with him since he has 4 health and one card I plan on using alot is Anger of the Gods and just incase I have to use it when a creature is out my Spellheart Chimera would die where as Nivix Cyclops wouldnt. But other then those situations I think its a good card but still iffy but for sure I will add when Nivix Cyclops leaves standard.

Nice deck man. I recently built an Izzet burn/control too - with more more emphasis on burn. How does your endgame usually pan out? Are you just controlling the board until AEtherling ?

May 16, 2014 9:28 a.m.

@ Stygiandreams

ya mostly trying to get the AEtherling or to buff the Nivix Cyclops to do a nastly combo since there are quite a bit of spells and cancels, i think i have to add another AEtherling thought. Any suggestions on win/con?

May 16, 2014 10:11 a.m.

+1 for the excessive number of gifs.

@Apex_Promethean; If the more counter than burn strategy is working, I'd suggest another Keranos, God of Storms . Keranos, God of Storms will accelerate your draw and get you closer to your Aetherling. If that doesn't happen quickly you at least get an extra land or 3 points of burn damage per turn.
