Wanted to test the deck out a bit to see how it goes before adding in any ramp, but yes those would be good to have in there. When I get my hands on a Wrath of God that's going in.

I'd had Assemble the Legion in there, but it didn't seem to fit the theme...I may put it back in just to have a bunch of blockers/creature advantage. Do you think Wear / Tear would be better than Return to Dust ?

I like both Wear / Tear and Return to Dust . If I could only have one, I would run return to dust, simply for the exile effect (several members are prone to playing the Gods nowadays, or recurring things I would rather not have returned).

I dropped in a Shatterstorm , so we'll see how that one pans out. I'm sure I may get some hatred from others in multiplayer, so it could end up getting swapped out for Wear / Tear .

Where's Sunforger ? It's so useful in tutoring answers for any threats. Moreover, you have like 20 R/W instants that cost 4CMC or less. So, please replace something with Sunforger . :D

Lol, fair enough. Not sure how I missed that one, but thanks for the heads up. Now to find a copy.

+1 for Radiate alone. I have never seen such a card and after a little research, it is officially the most hilarious card in magic.

Reason being: Chaos Warp + Radiate or Oblation ~ Everyone will hate you. Which is a good thing!

Thank you for making my week.

Haha, no problem. Got me thinking about putting those two cards in.

First test turned out pretty well. Deck ramps well and I was able to do a considerable amount of damage to everyone and even killed off a player. Downside is I needed a Personal Sanctuary to go with Pyrohemia . Added in a few more creatures and working on some slight recursion with Reveillark and Adarkar Valkyrie which should give some more variety to the deck and allow me to grab some of my opponents creatures when they get killed off. Put in some more artifact hate as well, so I'm looking forward to seeing how this plays out the next time.

If you need a Sunforger , I've got an extra one. And a Deflecting Palm .

Damn...already ended up ordering one. Thanks for the offer though. Have you had a lot of success with trading through tappedout?

October 23, 2014 2:38 p.m.

ZombieCat says... #12

Yeah, a ton of success.. I've had two people rip me off out of 60+ trades on tappedout. If you want to work something out, feel free to let me know.

I will. Is there anything in particular you're looking for?

Nice list just wanted to add a few comments:

Chaos Warp because tuck is awesome, and the drawback is usually not too severe. On the same note, Terminus seems pretty good as you are not too creature heavy.

Tithe is a really nice card for getting your Plateau or Sacred Foundry .

I would take out Oath of Lieges and throw in a Land Tax if you can as the effect is one-sided.

Instead of Artifact Blast you might consider Shattering Spree .

You run a ton of instants, i think Past in Flames would be pretty brutal in this deck!

Assemble the Legion seems pretty good considering your choice of commander, so you might consider it.

Perhaps make room for some more ramp? Boros Signet , Mana Vault , Lotus Petal .

Might consider Thespian's Stage to flash in creatures, could be useful.

I might be mistaken but seems like this deck doesn't have a ton of drawing power either. Consider: Wheel of Fortune , Wheel of Fate , Memory Jar , Mind's Eye , Staff of Nin .

Most importantly, if your plan is to deal damage to creatures and then reflect that damage back, you should most definitely have Repercussion . That card is house in my Ashling deck!

I do need the Repercussion in there for sure, so thanks for that. Far as the draw goes I'm going to wait. I'd had Wheel of Fortune in there for a bit, but took it out since I didn't have much graveyard recursion. The ramp doesn't seem to be a problem with all the creatures in there Eternal Dragon , Weathered Wayfarer , Kor Cartographer , Braid of Fire , Oath of Lieges , Knight of the White Orchid . So far land hasn't been much of a problem, but I'll take those into account if it does.

Also, I know that you are helping out opponents with the Oath of Lieges , but it tends to be a useful political tool. Plus, it's not nearly as broken as Land Tax which I've always felt was a good way for people to target you. Far as the cards go, I'm pretty set on what's in the maybeboard for the time being (thanks for the suggestions by the way) and I'm looking to replace cards in the deck with the ones in the maybeboard. And thoughts?

You don't necessarily need recursion for Wheel of Fortune to be effective, how quickly are you dumping your hand? Wheel of Fortune can ruin people who have been sculpting their hands all game.

As far as your maybeboard goes I would swap out Shunt for Chaos Warp . It doesn't cantrip like Burnout and you seems to have a plethora of redirect spells.

Are you only utilizing Eternal Dragon for its plainscycling? Seems like expensive ramp if you were to keep recurring it, if you can afford to drop it I would throw in Gisela, Blade of Goldnight . Another suggestion which is off your maybeboard but has quite a bit of utility and fits in with the theme of the deck is Magma Phoenix , could take the spot of Eternal Dragon .

Never been a fan of Faith's Fetters , but that is just my personal experience with it. I would swap with Terminus .

Have to meditate on other changes you would have to make to fit in the tutors because those would help your gameplan quite a bit.

Also where is the Gamble and Sensei's Divining Top ?? :D

October 29, 2014 2:21 a.m.

freezerboy says... #18

Only have one top...and you know my feelings about Gamble . I am using the eternal dragon for the 2 cost land search. I'd like to get a few games out of it before I think about dropping it, but you're probably right about the Shunt . Just need to get my hands on a Chaos Warp . The Faith's Fetters is to lock out people's planeswalkers and other things like that, and I did have Magma Phoenix in here before, but I thought it was a lot of mana for just a 3 dam effect...but it would fit the bill. Maybe I'll trade that one for the Dawn Elemental .

Repercussion seems fun with Blasphemous Act ~ Maybe have Mark of Asylum out first.

October 29, 2014 7:41 a.m.

freezerboy says... #20

I decided to switch the subtheme from creature protection to adding in more cards like Boros Reckoner . We will see how it works out in that regard, but I may need to go back to using cards like Mark of Asylum .

October 29, 2014 3:31 p.m.

ZombieCat says... #21

Lol Dolmen Gate + Mark of Asylum ~ I do hope this helps. I'm not trying to spam your deck page or anything, seriously.

October 29, 2014 8:58 p.m.

freezerboy says... #22

Lol, no worries. I have those as a fall back in case my creature damage theme ends up backfiring. I also had in a Light of Sanction which I thought was a hilarious ability.

October 29, 2014 9:04 p.m.

freezerboy says... #23

Dropped in some more removal and burn spells like Fire Tempest to make more use out of the overall subtheme I have going on. Some of the counterspells like Artifact Blast sat in my hand too much...though I really wanted to play it turn 1 to counter someone's Sol Ring . Ah well...sometimes our favorite cards just aren't practical enough to see play time.

Soon as my Gisela, Blade of Goldnight comes, she will replace Aurelia. Realized that using Heartless Hidetsugu 's ability will kill all my opponents so long as they have even numbered life totals. Though it does reek of combo deck...

Somnambulist says... #25

Nice. I don't think you need quite that much damage reflecting things as you could cut some of the weaker ones. Nevertheless, if you want to be truly evil, Manabarbs. It's pretty much the most devastating thing ever with Gisela out. Your opponents get shocked for each land they tap and you take nothing!
