Introduction Show

This is another insect deck I came up with, but also about half the price as the other one. If the other one played on getting a lot of tokens on the board and swarming the opponent in tandem with Intangible Virtue and Anointed Procession--which was actually why the deck was so expensive--this one I feel like plays more like a green bug deck. Mill stuff to the graveyard and bugs emerge from the deep under. The other one feels like a flying insect deck; this one feels like a beetle deck. And who is to say one is better than the other? (this one. this one is better because it's super cheap)

Objectives Show

The objective of course is to get your opponent's health to 0 or get their deck to mill down to--just kidding. Unfortunately this deck requires more knowledge about the deck than the other one. Most of the time the play will revolve around Crawling Sensation, Crop Sigil, and Elvish Piper. As a rule of thumb, you want to push off playing Crawling Sensation until you have Elvish Piper on the battlefield. Ramping isn't terribly difficult thanks to Elvish Mystic's self-ramping ability, and defending is easy thanks to Swawrmyard. Keep in mind your best defense is with Swarmyard and sometimes with the tokens from Crawling Sensation, so watch out when you are tapping land for mana. I know I joked about it at the beginning of this section, but as a budding Magic player, I always forget that the objective of the game is to beat your opponent down faster than they can beat you down. This deck isn't about going in for a 6-mana combo to end the game; it grinds down your opponent until you can start to launch a stronger one.

Things to keep in mind Show

Of course the token generated from Crawling Sensation is nice, but its real value is with the fact that you get to mill 2 cards at the beginning of your turn. When something nice like Giant Adephage or Moldgraf Monstrosity gets buried, dig it back up with Crop Sigil and drop it onto the field with Elvish Piper. Scute Mob grows big quickly towards the end and is super cheap to drop. Deadbridge Goliath can be a decent beatstick or if it's buried, you can scavenge it and make whatever you have on the field even bigger. Drop Quarry Beetles when you want to get your land back from the graveyard.
