DOMINARIA!!!! —April 17, 2018

OMG there are so many goodies in this set. for now i'll put all the cards in the list that i'm playtesting. you can see the sideboard for the cards i cut.

also worth noticing are karador, teferi's protection and defence of the heart, all 3 are somewhat new inclusions that are here to stay!

another note it that i'm working on blinging out this deck, so look for ABUR duals replacing shocks, expedition fetches and new foil legends! i'll add them as they come.

This is my favorite build of Saskia by far. I was struggling to find a theme or gimmick for her but knew I wanted one, and this is it.

Thoughts on running Berserkers' Onslaught over Gratuitous Violence ?

Thanks :D I too love this deck the most out of all my decks <3

I would say Berserkers' Onslaught is way worse. Look at it like this, if you attack someone with just saskia (and you choose them as well) saskia + Berserkers' Onslaught will do (3+3)+(3+3)= 12 damage. if you do the same with Gratuitous Violence you will do (3 * 2)+((3 * 2 )*2)= 18 damage, since the damage gets doubled on the combat damage, and then again on saskia's triggered ability.

That does make sense. I was mostly thinking about the mana. 3 red vs 2 red.

Yes, if you work with fetches and shocks like my, thats almost never a problem. especially since its one of the finisher cards you dont really wanna drop early. if youre on a budget manabase tho, it might be hard to get to 3 red reliably. but still, if this is on the board, youre gonna be focused really hard, so usually you can get to 3 red lategame somehow.

Man, I am SO GLAD I found this list. I was actually just trying to set up a Saskia legendary tribal build in preparation for Dominaria and randomly stumbled across a link here on the EDH subreddit. This is giving me some great ideas, though I'm also sticking to a 'female furies' amazon thing which makes my list tougher. Gotta find some good alternatives for some of the dudes.

Still, thanks for the inspiration!

Hey, so first up: Love the deck. I've already converted my Captain Sisay deck into a version of this. Great idea with Saskia and the damage doubling has proven to be a really effective wincon in most games.

What are your thoughts on running Rest in Peace over Ground Seal? It does hurt our graveyard as well, but if it gets put down you at least don't have to worry about it doing nothing if it somehow gets removed.

Also what do you think about Thousand-Year Elixir? You don't have a massive amount of tappable creatures, but being able to chain mana dorks or Sisay tutoring the turn they come out seems fairly useful.

Lastly, have you considered the Elesh Norn or Linvala combo with Living Plane/Nature's Revolt? Seems like a decent way to lock a pesky control player (or really any player besides you) out of the game. Solid option when you can't get combat damage through for some reason.

Hi Sloanan! really glad you like the deck :D it all started with my friend that wanted toe build Sisay legendary tribal. especially with dominaria coming up she seems like a cool commander, just super tutor heavy. That being said i think the're is to few cards that work well with thousand year elixir (apart from sisay) that make me want to run it. Sure its nice with mana dorks, but haste enablers like samut and urabrask also fulfill that role, and the activated ability is not that strong for its price sadly.

sortof the same could be said for the living plane combo, its super cool to pull off, but without elesh norn its such a dead card. this deck also doesnt run any tutors that can get non-legendary cards so that makes it even harder to combo with living plane or thousand year elixir.

as for rest in peace, its definitely the better card, but i run it in pretty much all my white decks that dont interact with graveyards, so thats more of a personal choice. however now that its reprinted and not like 15 for a copy, that might change soon.

Hey zakky234! Fair enough on the Elixir and Living Plane combos. RIP has been doing some work in my meta version of this. Have you seen the new Dominaria spoiler for Shalai, Voice of Plenty? Seems like it could potentially be a solid replacement for Asceticism. There are PLENTY of cool new cards from the set that seem perfect for this. I'm toying with Arvad the Cursed to replace Day of Destiny. Kamahl's Druidic Vow seems like a fun way to recover from a boardwipe if you've got the mana for it. I'm also wanting to find room for Grand Warlord Radha, as that feels like a solid option for an aggro-friendly deck like this.

all these dominaria spoilers! its hard to keep up. i dont want to make too many changes at once so i can test out the new cards in a shell which i know that works. that being said im gonna fiddle around with shalai for sure! card is bonkers.

im currently running Primevals' Glorious Rebirth as boardwipe recover tool, but i might flip that around for kamahls druidic vow.

im tempted to go and try to find room for radha too, since i love that character and the card, however i notice that while playing i usually dont attack with more that 2-3 creatures at the same time, so i think she might be stronger in a token shell.

as for arvad, i think he does to little. i previously had Adriana, Captain of the Guard and Gahiji, Honored One and they both underperformed.

on a side note, im also never cutting day of destiny, its the embodiment of what this deck does, in art, flavor, being a legendary enchantment and effect. that and a friend altered mine :D
