So EDHREC has a list of unplayable commanders, basically it's the commanders that have a couple, if not zero decks on tapped out max.

So here you go, the first deck (I've seen anyway) built around Nagao, Bound by Honor and it's.....

Not great.

Yeah, Samurai only have a single block of support so already you're fighting an uphill battle. And by going mono white you miss out on two color's worth of samurai. Mono white has 21 samurai total. Add changeling and you get to 25. That is not enough for an Aggro deck, and a lot of them aren't agressive. Or good. Takeno's Cavalry anyone?

There also isn't much payoff for being Samurai. Takeno, Samurai General is the only great pay off for being strictly Samurai.

Even if you wanna go mono white, Konda, Lord of Eiganjo is a better creature with a more relevant ability. Or better yet just play a aggressive white commander like Jazal Goldmane. Nagao's samurai ability isn't even all that great since he's a 3/3. He just isn't a good creature.

That's not to say the deck can't win. Coat of Arms, Door of Destinies, and Obelisk of Urd turn simple Swordsmith into master Samurai. And sometimes agressive, punchy punchy catches decks off guard long enough to stick an Elesh norn or Avacyn but not playing many one drops kinda screws this deck over.

So we go all out on flavor, while some cards are too good not to play, this deck has a ton of flavorful cards. Konda's not leading his army into battle. His right hand man Nagao is gonna lead the fight against the forces of evil. Even if his cause is questionable. ( That Which Was Taken )

Call to Glory , Hold the Line , Oathkeeper, Takeno's Daisho , Michiko Konda, Truth Seeker, Umezawa's Jitte Eiganjo Castle , and plenty more all ooze flavor. It's truly Kamigawa samurai in deck form.

So yeah not a great deck but at least Nagao finally has a home. One down.
