This is my personal take on the R/W prison control archtype. This deck is typically meant to be played as sort of a control deck against aggro decks: The first few turns usually consist of playing cards that keep you alive, such as Sun Droplet, Nyx-Fleece Ram, and Kitchen Finks. You also have removal in the form of Path to Exile, Lightning Helix, and Recumbent Bliss. Once you have control, you have a number of options for winning:

  • You can play Searing Meditation and take advantage of all of the recurring life-gain triggers to zap your opponent and any other troublesome creatures or planeswalkers they may still have

  • You can play Nahiri, the Harbinger, hit her ultimate in a couple of turns, and win with Emrakul, the Aeons Torn. All of our early game removal/blockers help keep her alive while she ticks up

  • You can play Crested Sunmare and (usually) get a 5/5 token on that same turn. The resiliency of this card is nice. Even if your opponent removes it on their next turn, they'll still have to face a 5/5 token with 1 less removal spell!

  • Ajani's Pridemate can also be a win condition sometimes, as it can quickly surpass even Tarmogoyf in this deck!

This deck curves out really nicely and can be played aggressively, which can be useful when trying to race certain combo decks or get an early and aggressive board presence against control. Pridemate, Lightning Helix, and Finks can all help put early pressure on the opponent. Following this up with a Nahiri and a Sunmare on turns 4 and 5 puts the opponent on a very tight clock if left unanswered
