Everything's Better with Swords (Budget)

Commander / EDH* Artifact Budget RW (Boros)

Redace878

Maybeboard

This is a very aggro deck about creating a massive army and then giving them all swords. In play testing I find that by turn five all of my creatures usually have lifelink, double strike, deal double damage, and are equipped so much you won't be able to see your playmat.

Fun fact: It is possible to get a 7/7 with double strike that destroys permanents whenever it attacks...on turn three.

I find using a voltron tactic works on pretty much any creature, especially ones like Kemba, Kha Regent who get bonuses from multiple equipments. If you have enough artifacts, winning with commander damage is pretty easy. The best part about this strategy is that if the creature dies, you can just put all of their equipments onto another creature and use them.

I used the "Needs Help" flag because I need help trimming down the number of cards in this deck, I want to know if any of the cards in my Maybeboard are worth it, and also that you may know about cards that I don't that will fit in this deck. Feel free to leave suggestions.

If you get something that lets you tutor for equipment, the first thing to go for is Argentum Armor. Next is Masterwork of Ingenuity, to copy Argentum Armor. If you're using Stonehewer Giant to tutor, the first thing you get should be Swiftfoot Boots or General's Kabuto, so you can protect him.
These are all the combat tricks and battle spells you can use to crush your opponent.

Blasphemous Act is just a boardwipe, nothing special.

Legion's Initiative and Boros Charm are there to save your army from boardwipes.

Boros Charm can also be used to turn a 5/5 into a 10/10, or just deal a few damage if that's what you want.

Bludgeon Brawl is hilarious. It's not very powerful, but it's mostly there to get a bit more synergy from regular artifacts.

Deflecting Palm is very important, because if everything goes wrong and you somehow end up getting attacked for 40 damage, use this to turn the tables.

Duelist's Heritage, Gratuitous Violence, Nahiri's Machinations, and True Conviction are included for obvious reasons.

Magnetic Theft can trick your opponents into thinking that the big scary creature is tapped or out of commission, until you suddenly attach the equipment to your small creature and make that one big and scary.

Master Warcraft can stop your opponents from killing you with activated abilities.

Open the Armory, Quest for the Holy Relic, and Sigarda's Aid are all there to make casting equipment easier.

Order / Chaos is mostly used for the chaos side, letting you make the final charge.

Relentless Assault is to get more damage (and Argentum Armor triggers).

Sunforger can be used to get any instant in the deck, and it is useful.

Equipment is probably the most important part of this deck.

Argentum Armor is probably the best equipment in this deck, because even though it normally costs 12 mana to activate, we can get it on the battlefield and equipped by turn 3.

Avarice Amulet provides lots of card advantage, and even if the creature dies we can use Magnetic Theft to attach it to something else.

General's Kabuto is very useful not only to protect your important creatures from removal, but also make your huge creatures take no damage.

Swiftfoot Boots is just a lighter version of General's Kabuto.

Grappling Hook, Loxodon Warhammer Tenza, Godo's Maul, and Sword of Vengeance are all mostly to make your creatures bigger and stronger (with a few other helpful effects).

Masterwork of Ingenuity is super fun, and most of the time you should copy Argentum Armor or Nahiri, the Lithomancer.

Quietus Spike can bring an opponent from 40 life to 20 life on turn 4.

Paradise Mantle Is ramp with equipment synergy. Nice.

Prowler's Helm can definitely end a game where you keep getting chump blocked.

Ring of Thune and Ring of Valkas can provide small bonuses while also buffing your creatures with +1/+1 counters.

Rogue's Gloves provides some card draw, especially when combined with Prowler's Helm.

Infiltration Lens forces your opponent to choose between taking damage or letting you draw cards.

These are the creatures that have abilities that artifacts benefit from.

Auriok Steelshaper gives +1/+1 to most creatures in the deck and lets you equip for less mana.

Auriok Survivors can recover a lost equipment and attach it to itself.

Auriok Windwalker and Brass Squire both let you equip at instant speed for free. Pretty awesome.

Foundry Inspector can get your equipments out faster.

Leonin Abunas protects your equipment.

Indomitable Archangel also protects your equipment, but it's more situational. Use this one only if your artifacts are constantly being destroyed.

Nahiri, the Lithomancer Can make tokens with free equipping, get an expensive equipment onto the battlefield, recover lost equipment, or just make the awesome Stoneforged Blade.

Relic Seeker can tutor for an equipment.

Sram, Senior Edificer gets you a lot of cards.

Stonehewer Giant provides repeatable and cheap tutoring.

These are the creatures you are going to be attacking with.

Akiri, Line-Slinger can get pretty big and scary pretty fast.

Armory Automaton is good to play right after a boardwipe, when the only thing you have left are your equipments. He is very handy if you need to equip things but you don't have enough mana.

Goblin Gaveleer Can get out of hand quickly, and is very useful early game.

Kazuul's Toll Collector is very easy to voltron the crap out of.

Kor Duelist is similar to Goblin Gaveleer or Boros Swiftblade.

Kuldotha Pheonix can pretty much never die. Plus, it has haste, which just makes it ridiculous.

Silverblade Paladin can make big creatures bigger.

These are the creatures that buff your whole army.

Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer gives a big bonus to all of your creatures, including itself.

Kemba, Kha Regent can make tons of tokens (depending on how much equipment you have).

Legion Loyalist stops chump blocks and gives some other bonuses.

Stone Haven Outfitter gives a small buff to equipped creatures and gives you some card draw.

These creatures aren't exactly wincons, because you can win without them. However, if you do get one, you have a much better chance of winning.

Gisela, Blade of Goldnight is AMAZING. She doubles damage you deal and halves damage dealt to you. Amazing.

Aurelia, the Warleader gives you an additional combat phase, allowing you to just keep beating on your enemies.

Iroas, God of Victory forces your opponents to block with more of their creatures, and prevents damage to your attacking creatures. Awesome card.

Removal is important in any EDH deck.

Chained to the Rocks does require you to control a mountain, but with 14 of them in the deck it shouldn't be too hard. Pretty much a one mana Oblivion Ring but only for creatures.

Burn from Within can finish off your opponents indestructible creatures.

Disenchant, Fate Forgotten, and Wear / Tear all get rid of artifacts and enchantments.

Dispatch is like Path to Exile, except your opponent doesn't even get the land. (Also it's not $11.)

Oblivion Ring is just Oblivion Ring.

Order / Chaos is mostly in there for the chaos half, but you could use ordr in an emergency.

I know this mana base could be updated a lot, but remember this deck is BUDGET. I'm not spending thousands of dollars one one Vintage Masters land.

Mountain & Plains are in here because they are the best lands.

Battlefield Forge lets you get red or white mana quickly, at the cost of 1 life.

Boros Garrison taps for . Pretty cool.

Buried Ruin can recover important equipment.

Command Tower is just useful.

Darksteel Citadel and Great Furnace count towards Akiri's power and metalcraft triggers.

Evolving Wilds and Terramorphic Expanse let you search for whatever type of land you're missing.

Slayers' Stronghold and Sunhome, Fortress of the Legion can provide useful combat tricks. Nobody expects their creature dying because of a land.

Temple of the False God taps for .

Wind-Scarred Crag taps for red or white and gains 1 life.

This deck does not rely on it's commanders very much. Although Akiri does have artifact synergy and is a 2-drop, the deck can still function without her. You could easily swap out the commander for any of the lieutenants or possibly Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer.
I'm not sure if these should go in the deck or not.

Godo, Bandit Warlord is expensive to use just as a tutor, and I don't know if I'll ever use the second combat phase.

Hedron Matrix only provides a power & toughness boost, although it could possibly be a big one.

Hero's Blade provides a small bonus for a low cost.

Odric, Master Tactician has a built-in Master Warcraft, but I'm not sure how well he fits the deck.

Skullclamp because, well, it's skullclamp.

Sparring Collar gives a small bonus, but has instant speed equipping which can end up making a big bonus through synergy.

Stoneforge Masterwork is pretty low mana cost and if you choose Soldier or Warrior you might be able to get a big bonus.

Sword of the Animist is a couple bucks but I should probably put it in the deck.

Taj-Nar Swordsmith does tutor, but most of the time will cost a lot of mana.

Spellbinder could be useful, but I don't run very many instants or sorceries.

These are the cards that aren't in the deck becase they're too expensive.

Darksteel Plate: Very good, but not worth $7.

Stoneforge Mystic Why does this card have to be so expensive?

Batterskull: Good card, but not worth the money

Any overly expensive lands: Not spending hundreds of dollars on lands.

All of the swords: these would be great in the deck, but they're still expensive.

Ancient Den: Why is this $5? Not worth it.

Darksteel Forge: I might end up buying this one eventually.

Helm, shield, and sword of Kaldra: It's not worth it to buy just one of them, and all of them together is a lot of money.
