Tana, the Bloodsower is our primary token generator. Cards like Whispersilk Cloak and Deathrender allow her to swing through relatively unopposed in order to generate a few tokens a turn (and paired with the assassins you get from Vraska the Unseen's ult, these artifacts enable a secondary win con.). I have a few other token generators within the deck too, such as Tempt with Vengeance and Dragonlair Spider. Side note: Xenagos, the Reveler is pretty amazing when you have a massive field of tokens.

The central engine of the deck is sacrifice; however, I built the deck to have its own distinctive feel, isolating it from your average mono black sacrifice deck which usually focuses on cards like Dictate of Erebos and other such effects. So, this deck implements the devour mechanic with cards like Mycoloth and Dragon Broodmother for the obvious beatdown as well as interesting combos. One of my favorite win combos centers around one of the many burn outlets (preferably a Goblin Bombardment or a Stalking Vengeance) which trigger from death and sacrifice. When you have a combo going with Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest and Korozda Guildmage with her second ability, you can easily recycle your fuel for your Goblin Bombardment to close out the game. It might not be the most efficient win strategy, but it sure is fun! If you're a Johnny/Timmy player like myself, you'll certainly enjoy the opportunity to sacrifice your massive Thromok the Insatiable with your Feed the Pack while you have a Stalking Vengeance out in order to instantly kill one of your opponents, and then proceed to burn the other opponents completely by funneling your newly acquired wolves into your Blood Rites.

I was initially running the deck with Ikra Shidiqi, the Usurper, but she was too slow and clunky that by turn 5 I had better stuff in hand ready to be played. So, now I'm running Reyhan, Last of the Abzan who does so much more than just add black to my color identity. If nothing else, she's sac fodder for Tana to net me more token each turn; or sac fodder for stuff like Deathbringer Thoctar or Hooded Hydra etc. But she can certainly combo off with the fairly heavy counter theme in the deck. Take Bloodspore Thrinax for instance, I can keep playing Reyhan, sacrificing her, then add her counters to the Thrinax and repeat (Reyhan gets bigger each time too, as the Thrinax keeps getting more counters). Even better if you're using Korozda Guildmage for the sacrifice because you're getting tokens out of the deal. Plus, those tokens aren't gonna be 1/1s; with Thrinax getting bigger, those tokens will get incrementally massive.

Drop: yavimaya elder for rishkar; armillary sphere for gyre sage;
