Thopters. They are fun and I decided to try and build a deck that made use of them. The idea is to make use of thopter-creating cards Thopter Engineer, Pia and Kiran Nalaar , Whirler Rogue, Thopter Spy Network to make a nice little flying army that can be given haste by Thopter Engineer, buffed by Chief of the Foundry, made really scary with Cranial Plating, and used to fuel metalcraft abilities on Etched Champion, Stoic Rebuttal , and Galvanic Blast. Vault Skirge and Signal Pest are considered honorary thopters for the purposes of this deck. I am hoping some day that this deck can be at least a little competitive. It's done well in the majority of its practice matches, but I haven't done any sideboarding yet

This deck has changed a lot over the past few days. This is my attempt at a budget modern RU artifact deck. I'm not really consulting established affinity archetypes because many of the cards are out of my price range (I'm looking at you Arcbound Ravager) and I want to keep the total price below $100 if possible, but definitely no higher than $120. I am also picking up the game after a long hiatus thanks to my boyfriend reintroducing me to this wonderful game, so if the card is earlier than M15 I probably have to buy it as a single or trade to get it. The list on this site is several iterations ahead of the physical deck I have because of this.

This deck started as a standard deck, but as I realized that I needed a better mana base than I had access to I decided to go modern to open up the possible cards to use. Vivid Creek and Vivid Crag coupled with Reflecting Pool works pretty well despite the vivd lands coming down tapped. Temple of Epiphany is on the to-get list.

The sideboard is still very uncertain and any input on it and the mainboard would be welcome.
