Whew! Forerunner of the Empire+Polyraptor+Heroic Intervention=Infinite Polyraptor tokens! Just cast Heroic Intervention while the damage trigger off Forerunner of the Empire triggered by Polyraptor entering the battlefield is on the stack and each new Polyraptor will trigger Forerunner of the Empire for another one. The combo works even without Heroic Intervention to create 8 Polyraptors. Just follow these steps:
  1. Play Polyraptor with Forerunner of the Empire on the field.

  2. Choose to use the damage trigger to deal 1 damage to everything creating another Polyraptor and leaving Forerunner of the Empire with 2 toughness left.

  3. The new Polyraptor triggers Forerunner of the Empire again. This time 2 Polyraptor tokens are created and Forerunner of the Empire has 1 toughness left.

  4. Finally comes the tricky part. These two tokens each triggers Forerunner of the Empire but we want to decline to do one damage to each creature when the first Polyraptor enters and instead do it when the second enters the battlefield for maximum Polyraptors. This way, the Forerunner of the Empire dies and deals 1 damage to all 4 Polyraptors instead of just 3 leaving us with 8 Polyraptors and no more Forerunner of the Empire. 48 Power.

  • Pros

  • Not reliant on the combo! Tons of other dinos!

  • The combo can occur over multiple turns without one piece being powerful enough to attract removal!

  • Possible T4 and likely T5 Infinite Combo!

  • One combo piece tutors the second making it a 2 card combo, Forerunner of the Empire+Heroic Intervention

  • The lesser combo is just a one card combo, Forerunner of the Empire tutors up Polyraptor.

  • With just a few minor edits the deck becomes very cheap and super affordable as a fun, non-competitive deck!

  • Weak to sweepers (hope they don't have Fumigate, if you think they might do the lesser combo and save Heroic Intervention for it)

Less reliable than other dino decks (when it doesn't combo)

    Weak vs aggro

One issue with your combo is the 3/3 Dinosaur created by the Raptor Hatchling will die after they accumulate 3 damage since they were not on the battlefield as Heroic Intervention resolved. Polyraptor gives a slightly better option than the Hatchling, as each token copy of Polyraptor generates additional copies, replacing themselves as they accumulate 5 damage. Adding Bellowing Aegisaur prior to starting the combo would help overcome this defect.

djnewellmit is correct, Heroic Intervention only affects permanents currently on the battlefield as it resolves, meaning the tokens will begin dying after accumulating 3 damage. Going infinite is possible with adding Bellowing Aegisaur to the board before comboing, or running Polyraptor instead.

With Polyraptor, you will be able to go infinite, as they will replace themselves faster than they die from accumulating damage. Additionally, even without Heroic Intervention, you'll be able to generate 40 total power before Forerunner of the Empire dies from its own ability (i.e. eight 5/5 creatures). To help achieve this, you could drop some slots designated to other creatures and instead include mana ramp to reach Polyraptor faster, since it's . Additionally, you could include additional protection to help combo off, such as Sheltering Light for another indestructible spell, or Blossoming Defense to provide hexproof against exile effects or 2 additional toughness for the Forerunner to allow 31 tokens before it succumbs to its own ability (at which point, the first Polyraptor would die as well).

I've been thinking about creating this deck too, ever since I've seen both cards spoiled, and while it may not be competitively viable, it's still an awesome interaction and something I'll continue looking into further. Good luck with your brewing and hope this helped!

djnewellmit, clayperce,Hexcimal Thanks so much for your feedback! I've fixed the deck into a combo that is maybe even stronger due to the lack of reliance on Heroic Intervention. I've also updated my description to reflect this and explained the newer combos. Feel free to offer more helpful critique.

how has testing been going for you? i really like Thunderherd Migration in this list for filtering and ramping.

i might test my list vs yours out of pure curiosity :)

I agree. Thunderherd Migration is in.

Yea, I also totally missed the fact that your 3/3 dinosaur tokens will also take damage. The combos that go infinite early in the game are limited to Frilled Deathspitter and Heroic Intervention, or Ranging Raptors and Heroic Intervention, or Sheltering Light plus Saving Grace plus Raptor Hatchling (all with Forerunner of the Empire on the field)

Another combo that will work is Sheltering Light or Heroic Intervention on Bellowing Aegisaur, then, with Forerunner of the Empire on the field, go infinite with any enrage effect. Time for a major revision of my Raptor Forerunner deck.

I used saving grace for my infinite Dino deck. Seems you can go infinite on turn 4 to attack on turn 5. Watch out for settle the wreckage though.
